Furthermore, another mayor event that happened in in the capital building was the attack of the abolitionist Charles Sumner after denounced the “slave power” of committing “the rape of a virgin Territory” (94). In respond congressman Preston Brooks confronted Sumner in the floor of the senate claiming his speech was a defamation and then he beat him so hard that Sumner was absent from the senate for three years. Additionally, in retaliation, on May 24 a small Free-State force under John Brown attacked three cabins along Pottawatomie creek, killing five men with swords and triggered a summer of guerrilla
He said he was acting for god. He and his followers had killed 5 pro-slavery supporters during “Bleeding Kansas”. In 1859 he attempted to capture an armory at Harper’s Ferry and use the weapons acquired to arm the slaves. A younger Robert E. Lee led U.S. Marines and the raid only lasted less than 2 days. Once captured John Brown was sentenced to hanging and died.

Two days after the attack on Lawrence, a man named John Brown set out for vengeance.

Turner along with his band of about 70 slaves where going from one house to another killing every family. They would use knifes and clubs as weapons to kill around 50 whites. A militia force had to intervene to stop the revolt. Later all the slaves along with Nat Turner would get executed. Sadly the rebellion had caused even tighter laws on slavery and many states had even banned people from teaching blacks how to read and wright because they saw that the key factor in this revolt was the intelligence of Turner.

Neighbors killed neighbors and some husbands, even killed their Tutsi wives, saying they would be killed if they refused.” You may wonder what would cause such a horrid thing? Well it all started way back in 1990 where they fought until a peace deal was agreed in 1993. But on the night of April 6th, 1994, president Juvenal Habyarimana, and his counterpart Cyprien Ntaryamira of Burundi, both Hutus, was shot down, killing everyone on board. The Hutus extremists blamed RPF and immediately started a well-organised campaign of slaughter.

In response, John Brown and his anti-slavery followers captured and brutally hacked five pro-slavery men to death. Again, the pro-slavery settlers won and anti-slavery settlers charged them with fraud a second time. At the end of the third election, anti-slavery settlers outnumbered the pro-slavery settlers and Kansas was admitted to the Union as a free state.
When John was 9, he tried to run away and join the Confederate Army. At 14, he was bullied by a boy in school and John stabbed him, luckily the boy survived. When he was 15 he killed his first man and spent the rest of his life being in trouble with the law. It seemed wherever John went from Kansas to Texas, he always found trouble. Some say John killed 20 people over his lifetime and others say up to 40.
