Incas were ruled by an established government ; Mayas were ruled by kings and priests. The Mayans and the Aztec both built great cities. They both were located in present day Mexico. They also Worshipped many gods. Aztec fell to Spanish invaders ; Maya disappeared back into the jungle, the maya lived much earlier than the Aztecs ; Also the Maya civilization lasted longer.
It was mostly based on how a person died. Some were thought to be reincarnated as animals, insects, humans, or remained as a disembodied soul floating aimlessly. Dead people were buried in a squatting position along with items that would guide them through their “journey.” Anyhow, the topic of sacrifice must have struck indescribable fear in the minds of the Aztecs both in and outside the empire. The Aztecs were known for being bloodthirsty and for worshipping cruel gods, but sacrifice had a great significance in Aztec religion. Iturbide was an overnight hero who would leverage that and gain leadership of the country.

He was orphaned when he was three years old and left in charge of his paternal grandparents. When his grandparents died he was placed in the custody of his uncle Bernardino Juárez. On December 17, 1818, Benito made the decision to travel to his hometown of Oaxaca, and with the help of his sister Josefa, who worked for the Maza family, he got a job taking care of the farm. Days later, he met a Franciscan priest of the third order named Antonio Salanueva and admitted him as an apprentice bookbinder.
In his campaign against the Aztec Empire, Cortez relied upon the other local indigenous tribes for assistance. Why did they ally themselves to Cortez and how did they help him secure ultimate victory? In Cortez’s venture to seize Mexico from the Aztec powers he was given he allied with other indigenous tribes, such as the Tlaxcalan's. It can be seen that perhaps the ally was more of mutual want for the destruction of the Aztecs as a mutual enemy rather then the want to benefit one another but the result shows us that this ally between the indigenous and the Spanish Hernan Cortez resulted in both the siege of Mexico and downfall of the Aztecs which may not have happened without this alignment. The Maya civilisation was one of the most superior indigenous societies of Mesoamerica (a term used to describe Mexico and Central America before the 16th century Spanish conquest). It is believed that the Mayan peoples began to settle in the Yucatan area of what is now known as Mexico between 2600 BC and 1800 BC. Their religion was based on a pantheon of nature gods, including those of the Sun, the Moon, rain, and corn. A priestly class were responsible for an elaborate rotation of rituals and ceremonies. Their beliefs are formed on the idea that virtually everything in the world contains sacredness and life was seen as a recurrent cycle.
