The Rolling Stones Electrifying History and Lasting Legacy The Rolling Stones are one of the most well recognized and famous bands to ever perform and come from the country of England. At the peak of their careers, they took the world by storm and began to have a tremendous amount of publicity. Along with this attention, also came many varied opinions of the ‘Stones’, both good and bad. The band has had an insane history, of its good times and bad times, but throughout the time, they have still managed to stick together and are still performing today.

Two of the biggest groups to separate themselves from the other bands of the 1960s were the Beach Boys and the Beatles. Each had their own style of rock ’n’ roll and their own way of creating new music. The Beatles had a very British pop style at the start, which morphed into their unique style of music as they blended and mixed it with different kinds of “world music.” The band worked together to write and develop their style, which was different from the Beach Boys “whose creative center was unquestionably one member of the group” (Starr & Waterman, 305) Brian Wilson. Through Wilson, the Beach Boys developed a surfin’ style of rock ’n’ roll and like the Beatles, Wilson liked to experiment with different instruments and effects to change their sound.

The “Rolling Stones”, the “Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band in the World”, or the “Stones” are all names of which the influential bad boys of Rock ‘n’ Roll go by. The well deserved and hardly argued title of the “Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band in the World” was first bestowed upon them in the 1960s. Although there were other Rock ‘n’ Roll bands rising to fame at this time, almost simultaneously, the Rolling Stones graciously accepted the title and carried it to the top along with them, taking no breaks from the spotlight. The Rolling Stones left a lasting impression on the music industry as well as on most, if not all, of the people that have had the pleasure of enjoying their music, including myself.

Jazz has shaped the world we know today. Jazz would have never been as popular without the help of the famous musicians: Jelly Roll Morton, Joe King Oliver, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington. They were able to create timeless music that still continues to influence artists even years after the end of the group’s time. Not only did they surpassed every limit that was reached before them, they left a mark on the music industry that most artist can only hope they achieve. Great Britain was well known for having nice tea and a pretty queen, until the Beatles came to to life. They created a “culture explosion” when they first released their first song.

During the sixties, when The Beatles were first introduced to The United States; they were in a depression. Due to the wars, they did not have much to look forward to. However, that was until February 7, 1964 when The Beatles first came to The United States to perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. Most people still did not know that much about The Beatles yet, they were a mystery to everyone. Therefore, everyone were in for a surprise two nights later when they performed.

February 9th, 1964: The Beatles took the world by storm by making their debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show”. The popular rock group included John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They’ve changed the world with their music and became the best selling band in history. The Beatles are one of the most influential music groups impacting the world in more ways than one.
