From time to time, the persons involved in the community of Kenai had gatherings for meetings and special occasions. As such, that assembly served as the tribe’s tradition since then with certain values being highlighted. Correspondingly, camaraderie and companionship were the two principal values that were clearly manifested by the people in the cold mountainous place. The two aforementioned characteristics were significant for it builds unity among the group in a way that each individual has to do it willingly with respect to their ancestors.
Among the group, three brothers shined that paved way for the central story to develop. Sitka is the eldest among the three followed by Denahi and Kenai. In one gathering of the tribe, the old lady gave the brothers a totem, which symbolizes their fate wherein The Bear of Love totem was given to Kenai. In line with those, there were three lessons that the viewer had reflected on from the movie that mainly focused on love.
Chiefly, love for family. It was emphasized in the film on how the three brothers take care and understand each other. The former characteristic can be mostly attributed to Sitka for he always gives advice on daily living to his younger brothers and took the responsibility to protect them at all cost. Also, he exemplified discipline every time he goes with Denahi and Kenai and

It was for the reason that owl symbolizes the truth. As the line goes, “If people do not speak words that reflect the truth of their actions and motives, owl medicine (as referred to by aboriginal cultures) will guide you with vision and inner knowing to reveal the truth. The owl puts an end to doubt and offers vision and clarity of the truth of events, people or circumstances in your life.” It will surely be a good impression among my community once I acquired such. Also, it is advantageous for there is a high chance of having no trouble among the

Book Review I think the book “Touching Spirit Bear” book is a extremely action packed & dramatic book. In this book two teenage boys (Peter and Cole) have a depressing start to life , on the other hand they starts to explore themselves and find who they truly are. DRAMA & ACTION. Those are the two main words. If you like drama and action i bet you would like this book.
Has anyone ever called you an animal? Have you been compared to a sloth because you were lazy, or a mouse because you were quiet? In my Language Arts class, we read the book “Touching Spirit Bear” by Ben Mikaelsen. In this novel, a troubled teenage boy named Cole is banished to an island to find and heal his soul after he severely beats a kid. During his stay on the island, Cole realizes that he is similar to several different animals.
The book Ghost of Spirit Bear is a sequel to the book Touching Spirit Bear. I enjoyed this book because it has a good story and plot. While this book is not as adventurous or moving as the first book Ghost of Spirit Bear still has a good plot and creates vivid pictures in your mind while reading. I prefered Touching Spirit Bear over this book because it has more adventure and a more shocking story. The book consists mainly of the same characters but more were added when Peter and Cole go to school.
Sometimes people need a certain experience to change their point of view. In Touching Spirit Bear, written by Ben Mikaelsen, a violent teenager named Cole Matthews is sent on a mission to redeem himself, and faces radical experiences that ultimately change his whole mindset. He commits the crime of beating up a fellow peer, then is banished to an island as a punishment for his actions by the Circle Justice; a committee that serves as an alternative form of justice in the Tlingit culture. He then faces difficult and even deadly challenges. As a result of this experience, he changes from his ungovernable, supercilious ways as he comes to strong and sudden realizations of how wrong he was, and he learns how to be an honest and forgiving human being.
What do you need for success? Making friends and building relationships with others can change the way people think and act leading them to the path of success. In Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen, Cole is a no good super arrogant kid who throws a temper tantrum when he's mad. He beats up this other kid named peter because he snitches on him. There , he is sent to a detention center.
Native Americans have many values, and to choose just one that is the most important is hard to do. The one that stands out as the most important is family, this played a huge role in the culture of the Native Americans. Discrimination has affected many kinds for many years, we have to learn from the history and the stories of Native Americans. We build common ground to connect with people through life, learning from Native American’s values. Kinship is important, who could see that in the stories of Coyote and The Buffalo Bull, World on a Turtle’s Back, and The Way to Rainy Mountain.
We will discuss that similarities and differences of each type of relationship depicted in the novel. In the novel Chingachgook's son Uncas is one of the last remaining men in the Mohican society. The relationship between both father and son in this instance
Touching Spirit Bear By Cameron Gillis Touching Spirit Bear is an intriguing and breathtaking novel by US author, Ben Mikaelsen . The genre of this book is adventure and coming of age because we, as the reader, understand the difficult journey the protagonist, Cole, goes through as he matures and changes. The book is carefully written from the first and third person point of view to help see and understand the events from different perspectives. The other main characters are Edwin, Garvey, Cole’s parents, and the Spirit Bear. The main themes of the book are the power of nature, anger, forgiveness, and healing.
My opinion is that Touching Spirit Bear is a dramatic and breathtaking book where people learn to heal, forgive, and trust. Cole, the main character, is trying to live life to the fullest and find himself. He makes poor decisions... He is the bully... Will he ever learn from his mistakes?
“Something very beautiful happens to people when their world has fallen apart: a humility, a nobility, a higher intelligence emerges at just the point when our knees hit the floor.” (Marianne Williamson). Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen, focuses on a boy named Cole who doesn’t care about anything and does whatever he wants. He ends up beating up a fellow student and goes to jail for it, but has a chance to get out by going to an island to “change” for the better. In fact he does end up changing for the better and overcomes some of his big challenges.
He is also a giving person. He fought in World War 1 and could’ve ended up giving his life for his people. Lastly, he is a good listener. He is one of the more quiet
The theory of life being a circle is expressed throughout grade school, but it was never really more than touched on, with the novel Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen it is truly a subject of discussion in American classes. Mikaelsen expresses this symbolism through the character Edwin, who is a Native American, from the island region where the main character Cole Matthews is sent. The whole idea of life being a circle starts off with the quote ‘“Is everything always a circle’ asked Cole ‘Why not’ Garvey said ‘Life’s a circle.” ’ This is one of the main themes throughout the novel. On page 22 the quote "Patience, gentleness, strength, honesty," Edwin said.
Margret Atwood’s short story “Lusus Naturae” is known as a work of fiction in which a monster uncommonly plays the role of the protagonist. Discussing character dynamics, it is interesting to examine the symbolic meaning behind the girl as a monster in this story. Is this text simply a fantasy created with the goal to serve solely as a horror story with a typical ending, or does this tale have a deeper meaning encompassing the treatment of women and their sexuality throughout history. Through close reading of “Lusus Naturae,” I plan to use evidence from the text to illustrate symbolic parallels between the unusual protagonist and the known historical role women held in society. To begin Atwood grabs attention by opening her story asking the
