Gardening is the action of developing and rising plants as part of horticulture. In gardens, ornamental plants are usually raise for their flowers, foliage, or overall appearance, useful plants, such as root vegetables, leaf vegetables, fruits, and herbs, are grown for consumption, for use as dyes, or for medicinal or cosmetic use. Also, gardening is a type of de-stress activity that can be done through many people. Gardening ranges in scale from fruit orchards, to long boulevard plantings with one or more different types of shrubs, trees, and herbaceous plants, to residential yards including lawns and foundation plantings, it can be done neither in big or in small containers that grown inside or outside. From doing gardening, the patient will enhance their functional neuroanatomy of motor awareness. (Preston, Jenkinson & Newport, 2010). So, hemiplegic patient will can concentrate with the activity that they do after do the treatment. Also, by doing gardening, hemiplegic patient can get positive changes which is can decrease of pain at the effected side, increasing the attention, decreasing of stress and also will reduction of falls (Detweiler et al., 2012). Next, therapeutic garden have it aim which is to enhance ambulation, and stabilized sleep wake cycles. (Detweiler et al., 2012). After that, gardening is a restorative method to promote memory, attention, sense of responsibility and social interaction skill . The side effects of gardening to hemiplegia patient are can enhance visual, olfactory and tactile stimulation . So, to easier the process of the intervention we must do some modification and adaptation to enable patient survive with their condition. For the first, include a many type of plants to enhance visual, olfactory, and tactile stimulation (Detweiler et al., 2012). After that, do the planting in the terraform to enhance wheelchair users (hemiplegic patient) easy to do the gardening activities. This modification was carefully calculated to allows normal arm extension, preventing any repetitive stress injuries. (Green, 2012). In addition, therapist can use numerous other auxiliary devices to ease patients with the movement. The examples of auxiliary devices that can be use are bandage and splints. This is because bandage can assist to grip the operation component when patient’s finger grip strength is insufficient. Besides that, splint can facilitate the affected side extension and control the movement of the activity range. (Huang, Lee, 2013). Besides that, use the pulleys for hanging baskets as an adaptive equipment. Also, use pre-made roll-out flowering strips which have flower seeds instead of planting seeds individually. Another modification is make the flower beds as modify the garden to easier patient reach and making garden paths wider.
