Justin and Kenny had been swimming at the Blue Lake most of the morning. “We always have fun swimming in the lake, sorry the other guys couldn’t make it,” Justin said and watched his friend get out of the water. “It is fun when they are with us, but I need to go home. My grandpa is taking me fishing this afternoon,” Kenny said, grabbing his towel as he went to his bike. “Yeah, guess I’ll go home. Swimming alone is not much fun,” Justin mumbled getting out of the water and grabbed his towel. After drying off, he stared at the water. “What’s wrong?” Kenny asked, noticing the sad look on his friend’s face. “I wish I had a grandpa, but my grandpas are dead.” “Yeah, well, that’s too bad, I need to go, see you later,” Kenny said, hooking the towel on the side of his bike and riding down the pathway. …show more content…

"Hey, may I help you?” He asked. "Shut up and mind your own damned business.”Justin heard him yell as he took off his cap and scratched his head. “Why would you want to help me?” “My parents always told me when I saw old people struggling to help them and besides, I enjoy it,” Justin boasted, surprised to see the cart filled with cans and bottles. “You want to rob me; I know what you youngsters do, you take everything the old people have and then you beat us to death,” he explained and thought he recognized the boy. "That’s not true," Justin whispered, "I’m not a thief.” "Guess you’ll beat me up, while your friends rob me.” He gave the cart a shove, and it started to turn over, but he steadied

Thought the memoir James slowly transitions into a stellar young man who takes advantage of the opportunities life hands him. James biological father had died when he was young and therefore James did not have a strong memory of him.
1) Analyzing - Evaluate E.B. White's use of description by writing a response that answers the following: do you feel you are the audience of White's piece? In E.B. White’s story, “ Once More to the Lake” he wrote the story as though he’s personally telling you about his life experience about him growing up going to the lake in Maine and now returning as an adult with his son. He speaks about intimate moments he had at the lake when he was younger and as he gets older it feels as though nothing has changed, it's as though he went back in time to his childhood. He also explains, in great detail, every sense he is re-experiencing as an older man.
“I’ll get the paddleboard on the rocks,” I called up to Mason. He was already halfway up the stone stairs that led up the hill. I leaped up onto the first stair, and bounded up the hill, jumping two stairs with every stride. I was overjoyed to be in Northern Michigan on Long Lake, the largest of the twenty inland lakes in Long Lake Township. My hockey teammate, Mason, had invited me up to his amazing lake house.

A Younger Look on Life My entire life has revolved being on the water and spending time with my dad and grandfather fishing, boating, or just enjoying the days outside. Very similar to how White describes it in his essay “Once More to the Lake”. White expresses his views as looking back on life talking about what he has been through and his experiences at the lake. Throughout the essay White tries to live out his life as an older man through the actions of his son.
