The back yard is where Bruno is not allowed because no one can see him. Each day Bruno and his sister have to study or work on school with Herr Liszt. He made Bruno read history books, but he doesn't like to read about history books. He wants to read about exploring book because that's what he likes to read. “I wonder whether there are any spare tyres around,’ Bruno continued.
He wondered to himself. And who decided which people wore the striped pyjamas and which people wore the uniforms?” Bruno failed to realise or understand that in society's eyes, Jewish and Germans should be enemies. Whilst Bruno is nine and his father is very secretive, it was clear that his naivety and immaturity blinded him from seeing the reality before
In the book The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, Bruno was living in a place called Berlin then his dad got a promotion and the had to move to Out-With which is where he met Shmuel. They became friends but then a year later, he crossed the fence and was marched to a gas chamber which is where the story between Shmuel and Bruno came to an end. In The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, it was bad that Bruno was naive about the Holocaust because his naivety led to his death and it also would have led to his future if it wasn’t ended so soon. In the book The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, it was bad that Bruno was naive because it led to him, marching into a gas chamber. “‘ You’re my best friend, Shmuel,’ he said.
Once the family moves, the mother soon finds out that they live near a concentration camp. When she finds out, fights between her and her husband (also Bruno’s dad) which distances them from each other. Not only does it weaken their marriage, but they also do it in front of Bruno, which, as a kid would not be good because at a young age like that, they are extremely highly influenced by their parents and the people around them. Bruno continues to become more and more curious about what he refers to it as “the farm,” but is really a concentration camp and he continues to go and visit Schmuel from the other side of the chain-link. Lastly, the teacher that comes to teach Bruno and his sister exclusively seems to be extremely interested in WWII, which, as previously stated, can influence bruno, which made him more curious, which ultimately led to the death of both Bruno and Schmuel.
The majority of movies stay true to their previously written novel, but this is not the case for the novel and film of The Boy In the Striped Pajamas. The mediums of The Boy In the Striped Pajamas are about a young boy named Bruno who moves from Berlin to Out-With (Auschwitz). As he goes exploring, Bruno “discovers” a boy his age named Shmuel. Sadly, the boys are separated by a large fence. What Bruno does not know though, is that that fence is there to divide his people from Shmuel’s because of their vastly different ways.
As heard in the song “You Got a Friend in Me” from Disney movie Toy Story, “And as the years go by our friendship will never die you’re gonna see it’s our destiny you’ve got a friend in me.” Dictonary.com defines “friendship” as “the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends.” This is a very basic definition of friendship that many will relate the word to different things, based on personal experience leaving it a hard word to define. To me, the word friendship means the person in your life who will put you above everyone else and especially in difficult at times, and provides a relationship that will last forever, even if you may be miles apart. The word friendship, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, dates all the
In the book the main character, Bruno, is young and ignorant of what's going on around him. When he meets his friend from the other side of the fence, he can not comprehend why they must be separated by the fences. Since Bruno is rich and spoiled, he does not know how it feels to have nothing, like the jews. For example on page 207 “As it turned out, all the things that he thought might be there-weren’t.” “And not only was
Bruno’s father is one of the Nazi’s commander and close with “The Fury” which is Adolf Hitler, the man who started the whole holocaust things. Bruno does not know that the holocaust is happening around him. That is why he always confused on who are the people that wearing the striped pyjamas. Nobody has ever tell Bruno anything about the holocaust and nobody wants to. So we can say that he has not been exposed to any
In the book Boy in the Striped Pajamas Bruno is the son of a Nazi Commandant at the concentration camp Auschwitz. Bruno is very naive of everything that's happening and doesn’t know what's going on. He becomes friends with a jew named Schmuel who is the same age and has the exact same birthday. However Schmuel is in the camp. It is bad that Bruno is so naive about everything happening in the Holocaust and at the camp because it leads to the death of Bruno, and Bruno says very rude and foolish things.
