Participation in The Boy’s and Girl’s Club Keoni has been showing no interest in school and also stated that he has not been attending with little to no motivation. He also has stated that he does not even know what kind of job he would like to pursue if he was to find one. The concern I see that Keoni is currently facing is how he does not have enough support of peers or teacher’s that are involved in his life where they would be able to be a role model for him. The group intervention in this article for Keoni would be for him to enroll in the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of America (BGCA) where there are many activities and staff qualified enough to motivated Keoni into attending school and reduce substance use. There is a substance abuse SMART prevention program offered and for the youths who are involved in this prevention program or other types of clubs, it is reported that fewer of them are involved in substance use, drug trafficking, criminal behaviors and destruction of property (Anderson & Cash, 2010). Despites the two varying views on participation, women themselves shared mixed views on what was the best role for them. Marie Meurdrac, who was a French scientist believed that the venture into science was a good thing and discovered that women have potential to be at equal intellectual capacity of men. She states “ I flattered myself… and that if the minds of a women were cultivated like those of men, they would be equal to the minds of the latter” (Doc 2), showing that some women began to believe in the capability of their own intellectual abilities. German entomologist, Maria Sibbylla Merian demonstrates that women should be included in the science world. In her book she describes her push to learn what she is curious about, rather than
Recently, diversion programs have cropped up in many states. The programs keep adolescents out of detention by using the communities around them to support them. The text states, that, “William S. Davidson II created the Adolescent Diversion Project, a project which pairs undergraduate students and adolescents found guilty of breaking and entering, and other crimes. These relationships have been found to cut the youths' rate of ending up back in jail for more offenses in half” (Source 4, 2). The diversion system is used by the courts to get juvenile offenders involved in their community and away from crime by showing them that there is another way to succeed in life, instead of a life of criminal activity.

LC wants to review the educational materials before exposing them to her children. NIDA for Teens (2016) offers drug facts and interactive options for teaching. Aside from the various prevention and outreach programs, HTYFS also offers family therapy to Hanover Township residents. Therefore, clients may be youth, children, couples, individuals, a parent, or families. Clients are seen either by a LCPC, LCSW, MSW, or an intern. Therapy is mostly grounded in Family Systems Model, but Structural Family Therapy is also used.
In this paper I will be discussing how Boys and Girls Clubs are used as a deterrence method to keep “at-risk” children off the streets. These programs are all across the country in inner cities and in rural areas. I will be using the Boys and Girls Club to look at its relationship with Social Disorganization theory. The Boys and Girls Club has been around since 1860, when three women decided to open their doors to underprivileged boys. They “believed that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive alternative” (Boys & Girls Clubs of America).
The “Primetime: New Model for Juvenile Justice” video discusses that kids in Missouri commit crimes because the families are not supportive, kids are abused by the parents and feel abandon by their parents, and the new model of the juvenile justice system in Missouri. Most importantly is the fact that the model consisting of programs such the Rosa Parks Center and Waverly Youth Center should be followed or attempted as it shows it works to rehabilitate the kids. Both programs are not a jail but a place in which kids share their problems and feelings in a small group setting. Missouri Juvenile Justice system knew that the traditional juvenile jail did not work in Missouri so the creation of these youth centers to work with kids’ behavioral problems.
The Girls Scouts Organization was started in 1912 during a time when the United States was still greatly segregated. The troops were made up of little white girls who wanted to sell the most cookies, and learn how to some day be great leaders. Years later in 1917, the first African-American Girl Scout troop was formed. During this time, Jim Crow laws were very much alive and #Black and White Girl Scouts were not allowed to integrate. In fact, when the Black girl troops of Savannah, Ga. wanted to go camping they had to drive about two hours to reach the nearest campground that would allow them to camp out.
