PTSD can be triggered by something extremely petrifying for someone. Johnny has the symptoms of PTSD from when Bob beat him half to death. This is shown when Johnny freezes in fear after seeing Bob's rings. PTSD stands for post traumatic stress disorder. One side is Johnny should not be convicted of murder because he is innocent and the other side is Johnny should be convicted of murder because Johnny is guilty. Johnny shjoould not get put in prison for something that wasn't his fault because Johnny was already scared of Bob because he has been beaten by him before. This shows that Johnny did it out of fear of death. No, Johnny Cade should not be convicted of murder No, Johnny Cade should not be convicted of murder because Johnny was already scared of Bob because he has been beaten by him before. Johnny was severely beaten by Bob before he was beaten so badly that he almost died from that beating. According to the outsiders by SE Hinton the text says on page 44, it said “Johnny was breathing heavily and i noticed he was staring at the socs hand he was wearing three heavy rings” and “Johnny's face has been cut up by someone wearing rings”. This shows that this was not …show more content…
Even so, Johnny should not be charged with murder because because he has all of the things from , for example he has post-traumatic stress(PTSD) from him getting beat by Bob before we know this because the marks on Johnny match with the rings. However, according to First Degree Murder vs. Second Degree Murder the text says “There are certain circumstances that might reduce the sentencing from first or second degree murder to manslaughter or homicide. Depression, post-traumatic stress, mental disorders and self defence”. This shows that Johnny was under symptoms of ptsd. depression, post-traumatic stress, mental disorders and self defence. All of this was caused by the socs and his
The court could have taken into account that there was no physical evidence that linked him to the crime. There was also express evedence against other parties that where involved. CASE #2: Lavelle Burt, 1986 Briefly outline the case (paste the link to it here as well).
Judge Fahey restates the case. Judge Fahey stated the prosecutors undisputedly showed that defendant went into the opposite lane and cause the accident and death of the Kellys. The defendant was acquitted of the manslaughter of the Kellys, but charge with the manslaughter of the baby. Judge Fahey stated he agreed with the majority on the issue is interpretation of the case. However, Judge Fahey disagrees with how the pertaining statues were read.
In January 2015 Conner Hanson was accused of shooting and killing 18 year old Anthony Gabriel. After the car chase led to the shooting and killing of Gabriel, Hanson is be on trial in adult court. Hason’s attorney told jurors that Gabriel was the aggressor and Hanson was just defending himself. Along with Gabriel in the vehicular was his 17 year old girlfriend and Hanson’s 6 month old baby girl. Prosecutor Randy Sample then explained to the jury that Hanson and a co-defendant placed bandanas on their faces before Gabriel was shot and killed.
During the trial Brown’s attorney gave evidence against Johnny such as two women who said he tried hitting on them, The second girl went on to say that Johnny had apparently tried to rape her on their first date the court Ignored the first girl as evidence due to it being “irrelevent to the case” the second girls argument however was taken into consideration. The evidence favoring Johnny was in greater abundance and had many of Johnny’s friends speaking in his favor. He was known for being caring and this leads to people in his favor stating he truly meant to help Cyntoia not pick her up for
In February 2014, Steven Farmer was convicted of sexual assault, and various other charges. The charges stemmed from his actions while working at Centennial Hills Hospital in 2008. This made Johnny a violent, hurtful, dirty, Greaser like
“Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen” (Deuteronomy 27:25). Johnny Cade should not be cursed for doing what was right, he was never rewarded and never desired to murder Bob Sheldon. He hurt and scared and did what he did out of impulse. Yet I believe as Johnny’s Defense lawyer that he should not be cursed by being jailed because either way a man would have been killed, the Socs were heavily intoxicated, and Johnny was severely beaten in the past by Bob leaving him feared and distraught.
Cade reacted to this by taking a switchblade and suddenly killing Robert leaving a pool of blood near him. As one can state, Johnny Cade should not be charged with manslaughter
Even though murder can be frowned upon, it can be justified when it is done to protect friends. Ponyboy writes,“... he [Johnny] finally blurted out,’but they were drownin’ you, and I was so scared…’” (Hinton 74). Johnny shows that he is concerned for the well being of his friend Ponyboy. This makes murder justifiable because if the murder did not happen, Ponyboy would have gotten hurt which would have taken a large toll on Johnny and all Ponyboy’s friends and family.
At the beginning of chapter 4 on November 12, 1963 the tragic death of Bob Shelton occurred. Johnny Cade is put responsible for the death, he states him and his friend Ponyboy got into a tussle with the Socs which lead to the unexpected death of Bob. The leading argument is between if Johnny is guilty or innocent for the killing. Johnny’s Defense Attorney Kenidy Shows believes Mr. Cade is innocent and was using self defense.
Young Robert “Bob” Sheldon was killed tragically a few weeks ago. The teen was only 18. He was violently stabbed through the back and left at the park. Police found the body the next day in a pool of his own blood. The murderer proved to be Johnny Cade, a young teen as well.
All of this points out that Johnny felt threatened and his friend needed help, so he did the only thing he could
Johnny Cade should be charged with involuntary manslaughter. He should be in Jail for 16 months due to the murder of Bob Sheldon. My reasons why he should be charged with involuntary manslaughter and nothing more serious is 5 socs that were coming for them were underage drinkers which affected the choices they made. My second reason is David should be charged with the attempted murder of Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny was saving his friend. My final reason is Johnny admits to killing Bob Sheldon with his switchblade.
PTSD is an anxiety disorder that follows the experience of a traumatic event. Of the 2.7 million American veterans that served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, at least 20% were diagnosed with PTSD (Veterans Statistics). PTSD affects everyone differently but the most common symptoms of PTSD include: reliving the event, increased anxiety, and avoiding any reminders of the trauma (Robinson,Segal, Smith).
