What you might not know and new to learn is that with Earth’s current warming trend that is happening despite the relatively cool orbital phase. You might be surprised to learn that Earth 's orbit around the sun is more complicated than it looks.
Risks for infrastructure, risks for ecosystems, risks for fresh water resources and food production, but only steps to build resilient societies can reduce these risks. A few impacts global warming has on the environment are- 1. Physical- It causes an increase in the global mean temperature relative to the pre-industrial levels. Some other effects include global mean sea level rise and ocean acidification causing floods to coastal areas and affecting marine life. Global warming would be irreversible for several millennia.
Climate change, sometimes referred to as global warming is the drastic change in weather patterns that are occurring across the globe. It particularly means the rise in the average surface temperatures all across the world. A major cause of this problem is the burning of fossil fuels to produce energy. The gases, carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrogen oxides, water vapour and others released by the burning of these non-renewable resources forms a blanket above the earth’s surface which allows heat to enter the earth but prevents its escape to space resulting in the rise in global temperatures. Today, this issue has become an increasing threat to places, people and animal species.
The global average temperature increased by about 0.8°C from 2005, but the current warming trend is 0.13 – 0.16 °C per decade, and it is projected to continue to rise at a rapid rate (Hansen et al.2010). The effect of the activities of man especially in technologically advanced nations, has brought about emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases which has resulted in the depletion of the ozone layer and global warming (Hegerl et al., 1997; Tett et al., 1999, 2002; Stott et al., 2000).These can be seen from the changes in meteorological parameters such as temperature and precipitation. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) likewise agreed to this, that the varying greenhouse gas concentrations were more to be the major cause of climate change (Climate Change 2001: The Scientific Basis—Contribution of Working Group I to the Third Assessment Report of IPCC, 2001). However, climate change pose as a great threat to biodiversity, the ecosystems, economic growth, global food security, life as a whole and encourages inequality (Kurnik, 2015 - for IPCC). Global warming has been a highly debated topic for quite a bit of time now. Is it or is it not happening? Global warming is an increase of temperature that causes related changes in climate and the environment. This has been seen in Antarctica especially. The change of temperature in Antarctica due to global warming has had many effects on wildlife and the environment already.
