Discrimination Us human beings has our own differences. Differences in culture, race, colour, gender, social status etc. Each and everyone of us are different and unique in our own way. In our society, we cannot avoid stereotyping, comparing people, judging people. We are all said to be judgemental persons. Us being aware or not, there is always a situation wherein we judge a person because of his or her physical appearance, the way he or she speaks, the way he or she dresses and even the way he or she communicate with other people.

From gender inequality to the social class of a person. However, although there are many forms of discrimination, the people that are discriminated against because of their lower social class are being pointed out and labelled as a “disgrace" to society in some ways. An example of discrimination that is evident in our society is the Gender discrimination that involves the Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. This individual whether male to female, female to male, or gender queer often lead to underachievement, difficulty in finding job and social isolation. According to a study, gay, lesbian and bisexual people are ten times more likely to experience discrimination based on sexual orientation as compared to heterosexual people. Mistreatment comes in many forms, from seemingly benign jokes, to verbal insults and unequal treatment. But there was an inspiring story about a transgender woman that aims to change the perception of people about the LGBT community. She is Geraldine Roman. Geraldine Roman was a politician. She won in Philippine congress last election. Her win in congressional race shows that people like her can contribute and serve in a country where LGBT people are still, sometimes publicly ridiculed. As Geraldine Roman says, “What prevailed were acceptance, love and tolerance.” It simply implies that in our society, there was still a place for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders to …show more content…

Racial discrimination occurs when a person is treated less favourably, or not given same opportunities as others in similar situation, because of their race, the country where they are born, their ethnic origin or even their skin colour. It is well recognized that racism or racial discrimination presents barriers to social and economic participation which can cause social exclusion and embed disadvantages sometimes, for generations. Blacks are mostly being discriminated because of their colour. Back then, whites consider themselves as superior race, the white man’s justification of his political, economic and military superiority by such ideologies as what they call “the God’s chosen race", the white man’s burden and the racial segregation or the apartheid policy, while the blacks or Negros are treated as slaves and doesn’t even have the right to be involved in politics and to get job
