However, although there are many forms of discrimination, the people that are discriminated against because of their lower social class are being pointed out and labelled as a “disgrace" to society in some ways. An example of discrimination that is evident in our society is the Gender discrimination that involves the Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. This individual whether male to female, female to male, or gender queer often lead to underachievement, difficulty in finding job and social isolation. According to a study, gay, lesbian and bisexual people are ten times more likely to experience discrimination based on sexual orientation as compared to heterosexual people. Mistreatment comes in many forms, from seemingly benign jokes, to verbal insults and unequal treatment. But there was an inspiring story about a transgender woman that aims to change the perception of people about the LGBT community. She is Geraldine Roman. Geraldine Roman was a politician. She won in Philippine congress last election. Her win in congressional race shows that people like her can contribute and serve in a country where LGBT people are still, sometimes publicly ridiculed. As Geraldine Roman says, “What prevailed were acceptance, love and tolerance.” It simply implies that in our society, there was still a place for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders to …show more content…
Racial discrimination occurs when a person is treated less favourably, or not given same opportunities as others in similar situation, because of their race, the country where they are born, their ethnic origin or even their skin colour. It is well recognized that racism or racial discrimination presents barriers to social and economic participation which can cause social exclusion and embed disadvantages sometimes, for generations. Blacks are mostly being discriminated because of their colour. Back then, whites consider themselves as superior race, the white man’s justification of his political, economic and military superiority by such ideologies as what they call “the God’s chosen race", the white man’s burden and the racial segregation or the apartheid policy, while the blacks or Negros are treated as slaves and doesn’t even have the right to be involved in politics and to get job
Today, gender inequality in the workplace still remains a popular discussion within institutional and social realms. In Just One of the Guys? by Kristen Schilt, through a variety of methods she shows how transmen are susceptible to systemic gender inequality even if they go through different experiences. Schilt performs in-depth interviews with transmen in the workplace to show how the types of experiences transgender people go through, good or bad, can be influenced on what race or social class they are in. She uses informational tables showing yearly statistics, real life examples of transmen’s stories, and her own observational data to provide an explanation of how individuals participate in the reproduction of gender inequality within
Discrimination is a tactic people use to show dominance over a group of people they find inferior. Discrimination invokes fear and distrust in the people it is inflicted on. During World War II, discrimination was the driving force of the fighting. While Hitler was in power, he instilled antisemitic ideas into the mind of his people. This led to the majority of the Jewish population of Europe being put in concentration camps, to be tortured, and or killed.
Today people are judged based on the color of their skin and on their physical appearance. In the United States, especially, people are judged based on their skin color and because of the way they look. Usually people care about appearance because they believe in stereotypes and are grouped in many different ways. A lot of people are discriminated against in many different ways; for example, police brutality, racial discrimination, and colorism to name a few. The groups who are usually judged a lot are Latinos and African-Americans and that is because of the color of their skin.
The three most common types of discrimination faced in our generation are racism, religion discrimination, and homophobia. Racism is when you judge someone by their skin tone or skin color and you treat them differently. Many people in history have been turned down jobs because of the color of their skin. Fortunately, that is now illegal in most parts of the world. The biggest leader of ending racism was

Discrimination is defined as the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. Sadly, not to long ago America was facing this problem with African Americans. They were being discriminated based solely on the color of their pigmen. Although now most people would never harm anyone because of their skin color, it was not always so. In fact, in 1955 when 14 year old Emmett Till was visiting relatives in Money, Mississippi, he was later shot and killed by 2 white men (Latson).

Sexism is an issue that’s plagued humanity for thousands of years. In 2016 in the majority of the world, women achieve the same opportunities for education and higher learning as men do whether school, college, internet education, learning on the job etc. therefore, the very concept of the female inferiority is illogical and impractical. However, due to how deeply rooted sexism has become in society, it’s difficult to say whether progress has eliminated sexism or not. Progress has a positive connotation; it involves advancement, development, and growth into a better form of whatever focus is at hand, therefore we must evaluate the growth of our society and culture and examine whether sexism has decreased at all and if it has, whether it was the growth of our society and culture that stimulated the decrease of sexism.
Racism/Discrimination: From Facts to Fiction Racism has been a big epidemic since the early 1600’s and is still a problem throughout society today. Boyle reveals how more fortunate people stereotype the way minorities and poverty live rather than acknowledging
Discrimination is a social view used to categorize the differences among different population groups based on perception. People can become a victim of prejudice attacks based on their ethnicity, race, and gender. Racism is the common form of discrimination, where certain groups within a target population are devalued. Minority groups are the victim of racism, where they are seen to have inferior social status based on one’s beliefs. Gender inequality can exist in different forms, depending on culture, region, religion and other factors.
