One example of a classic mystery The Hound of the Baskervilles has is the detective is dedicated to his client. Sherlock sends Dr. Watson to Sir Henry to keep him safe from the killer. Dr. Watson also follows him everywhere so nothing can happen to him. There is also repetition of an earlier crime. The killer kills Sir Charles and tries to kill Sir Henry.
Thursday, September 27, 1888. The Central News Agency receives a mysterious letter that reads,“Dear Boss, I keep hearing the police have caught me, but they won’t fix me just yet. I have laughed when they look so clever and talk about being on the right track. They joke about the leather apron gives me real fits” (Sharkey 64). This small portion of a letter was written by the infamous Jack the Ripper.
The barber, when making the decision, asks himself “What do you gain from it?” he answered “nothing”. So, the barber would not gain anything from killing him. He would not have to worry about the army hunting him down after killing the Captain.

“Thunderheart” is a film released in 1992 and directed by Michael Apted. This film has a lot more going on than what is expected or even seen. On the surface this film is just a mystery about the FBI solving a murder on an Indian reservation, but under the surface it is about someone finding out who he is and who he can trust, whether it’s the way he wants it to be or not. Ray Levoi’s character development throughout this film is ?.
Paul may never think that one day he would end up in Annie Wilkes’ house as a pet writer with broken legs and drug addiction but this is also the reason why he is a warrior hero. It all starts from Paul Sheldon, a writer who is famous for his novels “Misery”, almost died in a car accident until he meets Annie Wilkes, a former nurse who is also the devil figure of
The guilt that Poe expressed through his character the murder in the tell tale heart. he had felt bad for the old man his heart made him feel bad , guilty about killing the old man. Bradbury made us the readers feel bad for the house knowing all it was doing was waiting for its masters who would never return. The murder didn't know who or what it was except in the tell tale heart the murder knew exactly what they were doing the were committing a horrible sin. Poe and Bradbury were to amazing authors who had great talents who are both not dead but we can still read their masterpieces. I loved what both these authors did and they were both amazing, but I hold bradbury above poe for making us feel for an imaginary character.
In the story, he solved several murders and prevented the prison escape of his nemesis. Throughout the story, Mr. Monk was an interesting character. It’s Mr. Monks quirks and phobias that make Mr. Monk Gets Even funny. Mr. Monk was afraid of almost everything.
“Hadst thou thy wits, and didst persuade revenge, it could not move thus” (Shakespeare IV, v, 145). In this quote, Laertes claims that even if Ophelia was sane, she could not persuade him any better than she is now to take revenge for them. He probably feels this way because he is angry that Ophelia has become like this, and blames it all on Hamlet. This could be a sign that he is becoming mad, since he is blaming everything on Hamlet without thinking anything through. His rage ends up turning him mad, as he is willing to take his own life for his revenge and even wishes to kill himself to be with Ophelia in the
In order to be believable for readers, the insults must be very painful for Montresor, so it urges him to commit such a crime. “The Cask of Amontillado” is missing an important element of Montresor’s motivation to punish Fortunato by burying him alive. Montresor neglects to explain how Fortunato insults him as the story lays the foundation at the opening paragraph, “The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge.” (Poe 866); however, no evidence to be found in the story to support Montresor’s claim.
“We got a dead woman on the merry-go-round.”(pg 21) Right away at the beginning of NYPD Red 2 there is action and suspense. James Patterson’s and Marshall Karp’s book NYPD Red 2 is a fast paced novel where two cops who work for the elite task force in New York City called NYPD Red must find the Hazmat Killer before the the Hazmat Killer strikes again. NYPD Red 2 is one of James Patterson’s best works of fiction and one of Marshall Karp’s best books. The story is told from two points of view.
The author makes the reader gain sympathy for him, as he explains as he is a few of the lucky from his community to be successful and not lose their lives to violence. In paragraph 7, Staples states, “As a boy, I saw countless tough guys locked away; I have since buried several, too… a teenage cousin, a brother of twenty-two, a childhood friend in his mid-twenties- all gone down in episodes of bravado played out in the streets” (Para 7). The third and last reason why I picked this essay is because the essay was extremely detailed, which helps the reader believe that these stories are actually true then rather false like the other paper is like. For example, in paragraph 3, Staples stated, “At dark, shadowy intersections, I could cross in front of a car stopped at a traffic light and elicit the thunk, thunk, thunk, thunk of the driver…” (Para 3).
This, thusly, adds to his aversion against society for the most part, which is obviously a driving component in his choosing to go into the wild. He claims that his parents are to materialistic and are focused on the acceptance of others, which drives him to leave and find himself. One is left to think about whether, had McCandless figured out how to forgive his parents for their imperfections, he would not have wanted to go to such extraordinary lengths in his mission for answers. Throughout the film Chris meets people who have had a great influence on his journey. Every person he met had done something kind for him but because he is unable to form close relationships with anyone, he would end up leaving them.
Some of the traits that helped Uncle Jed to reach his goal of opening his barber shop was perseverance and determination. Uncle Jed was very perseverant because in the story when it states “Mr. Ernest Walters, a friend of Uncle Jeds. He had come to tell Uncle Jed about the bank failing” then uncle Jed just stood there a long time before he said anything and said he would just have to start all over. When Uncle Jed stayed on track and said that he would just have to start all over that helped him a whole bunch because if he just quit then he never would have gotten his barbershop. The reason i think Uncle Jed was determined because in the story when it states “Uncle Jed kept going around to his customers cutting their hair, even though they couldn 't pay him”.
Even though it seems like a complete loss, something is also gained. It could possibly be a new perspective or maybe the gain of the child’s new found family who took him in, or even both. All it took was one family to come along, for the reader to sense that one spark that made you realize humanity isn’t completely lost, though it does leave you to wonder whether or not they will
