The difference between the tones of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches is that Malcolm X’s speech has a more monotone speaking pattern. He also employs some tactics such as humor that King Jr. doesn’t use. King Jr.’s speech has a speaking tone of resonance and reverence. He speaks slowly, articulating every single word. This allows his tone to resonate with the crowd and to emphasize his points. His tone also rises in tone to emphasize calls to action and explanations of the problem.
