Social media and Profile Social media is popular because it is free for the user and it connects to millions of users. Social media includes Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, and snapchat but a whole lot more. Those sites are used to socialise and share interesting things with friends and families. Social media like Facebook has over 1 Billion users, 75% are male and 83% are female, the highest age range on Facebook is from 18 to 29 years old at 88%. Sites as big as Facebook have a revenue up to $18 Billion. Most social medias are to share videos and photos with friends or groups but some sites like Twitter come to “rant” on companies and complain. Another negative is that setting up social media account is time consuming and can be hard to gain follows without paid advertising, therefore the business can end up with followers that are not loyal. For example British airways has had a lot of negative feedback when a customer complained about his flight and the company took very long to respond and people did not like that. Social media can also have flops and fails on social media, for example Cinnabon used star wars star Carrie Fisher to promote their buns, but they used this title “RIP Cattie Fisher, you’ll always have the best buns in the galaxy” this is a very bad example of promoting their product as there are using a stars reputation that was lost too soon and using it for their own interest. Because of that Cinnabon has had a lot of negative feedback and lost a lot of loyal followers. Pew Research
