THE EFFECTS OF G-DROPPING TO STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION IN ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF UNIVERSITY OF PGRI SEMARANG
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Background of The Study
Human being has to cooperate one with another which can be carried out in community. And the member of community needs communication, which is called “Language”. Language is the system of human communication that is used to express people’s mind, wises, to fulfill their needs by using it. All languages have universal properties covering the differences among them. They may be different since there are several languages in the world and each has its own rules. They are studied to date including signal for naming object in the environment and for expressing actions or states of beings.
Among many languages in the world, English is considered as an important language to study. It takes many important roles in the world, for instance as the international language. It uses by many countries, as the

People do not give an attention about the structure of language in a conversation. Structure and pronunciation becomes the second thing to be concerned as long as they understand what they listen to. Especially for them who are rarely meets the formal situation in conversation. As they have a different pronunciation, they automatically have a different dialect.
People have different childhood, that is one of the reason why people all over the world have a different dialect in speaking English. For example there is lot of difference between British and American speakers. One of the differences is how they pronounce the progressive –ing, adjective, and gerund. Some of them have drop the –g in their pronunciations, they rather pronounce somethin’ than something. In many studies g-dropping always connected with both informal speech style and lower socioeconomic status, specifically in the United
As discussed in the article by Clive Thompson, many people use different ways of speaking. Based on text conversations, social media posts, and comments language has made a drastic change. TBH grammar has made like a huge change on society. Lookin at billboards and social media, people post is a totally diff manner than speaking. Lol I remember the last conversation I had with my aunt that lives in Charleston, SC.
language? Language is the foundation for any organism day to day interaction, language is not limited to spoken language, but also includes body language and gestures. Through language people connect and form bonds with each other; from personal experience, I have found this is to be essentially true when living in a foreign country and speaking a language that is not the primary language spoken in that country. One may not know anything at all about the other, but an instant connection is made when you hear a familiar language or the language of your childhood. For some people, their native language becomes who they are, in essence, their identity.
Depending on where you live or where you are from, there was probably a different dialect in the way they spoke the language. In the South, for example, we from the West think they have an accent and vice versa. It is a distinction of different societies within a nation. Sometimes, this can be good and other times it can be not as good.
While some may be inclined to believe certain dialects, (southern, Boston, etc.,) simply demonstrate improper English and grammar, these ways of speaking more often than not follow specific rules and tendencies as concrete as those in standard written English. However, those who are not in tune with the language style of the group typically get treated as outsiders. Furthermore, language transcends just written and spoken word, the content, and style with which a particular group chooses to portray themselves represent the likeness in thought and emotion among its members. In effect, the difference in commonly spoken dialect can form a rift between individuals.
Her parents are from different backgrounds, so, the flavors, accents, and linguistic trills are a mixture of both. The way we grow up and are taught affects the way we view things a lot. For example, when 9/11 happened, we were all
The way people speak has to do with the community they grew up in, along with the phrases and accents that they use, which is affected by the region that an individual lives in. In America, there are many diverse dialects possibly because of the numerous cultures brought from the immigrants that came to America. As Walt Whitman said, “Viewed freely, the English language is the accretion and growth of every dialect, race, and range of time, and is both free and compacted composition of all.” There are many different regions of American English. One of them is called the Pacific Southwest, a region that covers California.

Rhetorical Analysis and Reaction of Richard Lederer Every people in nation has their own accent and pronunciation. It depends on their location in the USA, “Western and South”. Richard Lederer was the author in the “USA Today” magazine, has been a lifelong student of language and taught for twenty-seven years at St. Paul’s school in Concord. Lederer received bachelor degree from three colleges “Haverford colleges, Harvard University, and University of New Hampshire”. Furthermore, “USA Today” magazine was published in July, 2009.
Dialect, most people would agree, is the first practical identifier of a person. Yes, there is an unholy amount to be said for visual judgements –physical appearance holds unconscious powers that vocals will never achieve- but when considering true, difficult-to-mask features of a person, one’s speech is the foremost artifact in identification that is, most of the time, genuine. Language is the binding that holds our whole book of life together: your language, and more specifically, your dialect, decides where your page is placed.
42 The Psychology of Language For some time now it has been said that one of the things that separates our species from others, is our ability to communicate through verbal and written language. Although I agree with this, I also know that language can be harmful. It has caused wars, death and more than a few hurt feelings. Vocabulary has both connotations (the associated meaning of a word) and denotations (the actual meanings of a word), both of which can be harmful.
Over the past few months, the class has been discussing typical and atypical language development and the assessment and intervention of children with language delay or disorder. In line with this, the students were asked to observe children aged 0-12 years old with language problems for 2 hours. For this requirement, I went to a therapy center situated in Quezon City last November 16, from ten (10) A.M. to twelve (12) N.N. The center has multiple rooms that are used for speech therapy and occupational therapy. During my observation, two speech pathologists and two children with language disorder were sharing one speech therapy room.
Throughout the world there are many different cultures and just one aspect that gives culture its uniqueness is the dialect or language. Language is composed of many different symbols that everyone in a given culture understands, they have a universal meaning. Just because one culture has a symbol for understanding something, doesn 't mean that another culture will share that same meaning. Language for many cultures is what generated that culture, and what made it distinctly different from the others around it. Language can be in a form of art, music, or simply dialect.
The American Southern dialect is unique in terms of grammar usage, as many rules have no equivalent among other regional English dialects. Again, these features are attributed to those who originally settled in the area, but the preservation of such rules can be credited to cultural consciousness. The Civil War is thought to intensify some characteristics of southern language, as confederate states took pride in their differences from the North. Awareness of language is believed to result in the dramatization of many features, as well as a lack of dialect leveling between southern speakers and the rest of the

Finally, for mainly historical reasons, certain English dialects or varieties have been viewed more positively than others. Thus, Standard English, because of its association with being the national English language, has been perceived as the most prestigious of English varieties. However, the fact that some dialects and accents are seen to be more prestigious than others is more a reflection of judgements based on social, rather than linguistic, criteria. As society changes, so too do attitudes towards dialect, accent and variational use of English generally.
