However, many people claim that the English language has occupied their life too much.
Many people feel dissatisfied with the English teaching in China. One popular topic for discussion is the "long-time but low-efficiency" of English teaching (颜治强, 2002:224)3. Moreover, the teaching of English is relatively laggard in many places in China, and even many university students cannot speak fluent English. It seems meaningless for university students to take such examinations like CET4, 6 (College English Test) or TEM (Test for English Major) 4, 8. Some people claim that English has a great impact of the status of Chinese, and it is not wise for so many Chinese people to learn English. In order to make the world to develop at the same speed, a common language is needed to communicate with each other. It has been a long history before English as the global language. So it can’t be changed easily. What’s more, the strong power of America has caused English spread around the world. Besides, so many countries treat English as a second language. So English as the global language is convenient for many people. English is good to be a global language and people can use the language to be their skill so that they will be more successful in all kinds of fields in the future.
