The process of recycling paper instead of making it from new materials generates seventy-four percent less air pollution and uses fifty percent less water. Recycling steel and tin cans saves seventy-four percent of the energy used to make them. These are some of the direct benefits of recycling. Therefore, as part of human society we must consider taking these measures as soon as we can. But, to what extend are we doing that? If not, should the government interfere? In order to be able to answer to this question we must go through some relevant arguments and facts. There are numerous environmental measures that can be related to recycle. However, we will focus on few of them and particularly to the practical benefits of recycling for each of them. …show more content…
Without a doubt, the biggest environmental threat toward our planet is air and water pollution. Making new products from old ones which are of no use to us, contributes to reduction of air pollution in many ways. It is believed that the USA cut approximately forty million newspapers every single day, which is equal to cutting about half a million trees every week. You can imagine what would the impact to air and water pollution be if they didn’t recycle at least some of them. Furthermore, recycling also reduces mining and drilling, which directly contributes in large scale to air and water pollution. So, the benefits of recycling are evident and can be experienced from three directions: it directly reduces the use of energy resources which are being used in enormously large scale nowadays, it paves the way to use again the products for which we have no use anymore, and this process also reduces the financial cost as the road to raw material is much shorter that the first
In “Recycling: Why Better Than Nothing Isn’t Good Enough,” Pulitzer Prize-winning Journalist and Nonfiction writer Edward Humes advocates this; “recycling, in short, is better than nothing, but not nearly good enough on its own” (2). Humes points out that America is quite careless with recycling and it should be made the last line of defense against waste, not the leading one. He states that choosing recycled materials over virgin one's creates energy and carbon savings. His purpose is to demonstrate that with packaging reductions, lifecycle engineering, and incentives we can cut down on our waste production and eventually, eliminate the need for recycling. Humes then concludes by discussing incentives and how they can be a
Creditors Relief is assisting Earth First Recycling with their financial situation. It has come to the attention of Randy Tigar and Earth First Recycling that Pearl Beta Funding, LLC, represented by MCA Servicing and Steven Berkovitch, Esq., sent a UCC Lien Notice. As a result, Paychex is withholding funds designated of the payment of taxes. First, if Paychex does not release the funds immediately, it will be deemed a breach of the agreement between Paychex and Earth First Recycling.
Making byproducts using recycled materials is cheaper. New aluminum costs twice as much as using recycled aluminum. This is because 90 percent more energy is needed to extract aluminum from its raw form. Moreover, products that are made from recycled materials can also be purchased at a cheaper price. It is unlikely government programs on recycling will go away because of their popularity.
Watch by Peter Canby If you walk into most households around the United States, most families and individuals would argue to you that recycling is very important. These people say this because they believe that what they are throwing out is valuable enough to pay for it to be recycled and turned into new items of value. However, the article Recycling Is Garbage claims that recycling these materials that have been deemed as valuable to be pointless.
These are the effects of recycling: Cleaner world No overflowing landfills No more animals getting
Disposal and handling of hazardous materials such as nappies and body fluids is an important part in the policy. The reason why it is important because it is the changing of children’s nappies and it has to be clean. It is safe for both the children and the staff’s changing the nappy because you won’t get yourself dirty as well as the child. When changing a nappy it is necessary that the staff member wear protective wearing such as gloves and apron, to keep any bacteria you may have away from the child and whatever bacteria the child may have is cleaned up without you catching it.
Our economy has been based on materialistic resource. Individuals see our environment as a small piece of importance, but they’re wrong. We entirely depend on our environment with everything we do in our daily lives. In the film “The American President’ Leo is unhappy with the environmental issues and is trying to convey his ideas to the president. Individuals who are concerned over our consumption have contributed to recycling, but the percentage of those people are about 4%.
Other options for organisations are by reducing waste in the workplace through reuse and recycling efforts that have a positive impact on the environment. Less office waste means less trash in landfills. Recycling paper, aluminium cans, ink cartridges and even office machinery and equipment can help reduce the global environmental impact of consumer consumption. Other options, such as composting, can reduce waste even further. Organisations may be able to generate extra revenue by selling aluminium or machinery as scrap
This quote explains that there are plans that were put in place, but they aren’t working fast enough. According to my interviewee, Sukhwinder Singh, he argues, “If I was in a powerful position, I would try to convince companies and factories to try to reduce the amount of pollution going into the atmosphere. I would make recycling mandatory and the fine for littering would increase a lot. I would make transportation more accessible,” (Singh 1). Singh explains that recycling would help the outcome of pollution in the future so that companies and factoies don’t burn fossil fuels when there are other options.
There 's a tremendous amount of Americans who are not familiar with the process of any recycled item and this needs to change. Not only is that a huge issue, Americans recycling incorrectly and stores not selling recycled items are two other enormous problems that need to be resolved if Americans want to fix their discombobulated recycling system. After reflecting upon this information, one will agree that
Equally important, recycling creates a profit by selling recycled products to nations across the world. Recycling the abandoned materials means that they have to be sold as well. The Environmental and Energy study institute, a nonprofit organization in Washington DC states, “How Better Recycling Can Minimize Waste and Boost the Economy” by Ellen Vaughan, “In 2010, the U.S. recycling industry sold 44 million metric tons of recycled materials valued at almost $30 billion to over 154 countries around the world…” (Vaughan). This shows that the United states is receiving a profit by selling materials that people have already used and are being used again by other people in other nations. These nations will pay the United States and do what these
It is useful for nature, since we are making new items from the old items which are of no utilization to us. Recycling starts at home. On the off chance that you are not discarding any of your old item and rather using it for something new, at that point you are recycling. When you consider reusing you should consider the entire thought; reduce, reuse and recycle. We 've been indiscreet so far with the way we 've treated the Earth and it 's an ideal opportunity to change; not only the way we get things done but rather the way we think.
The world produces more than 300 million tons of paper per year. But remember, books are not the only source of paper consumption. 2. Textbook production by factories can release toxins into the air 3. Many trees are cut down to produce books every year which can lead to water pollution, increasing the temperature and soil
Recycling reduces the rate of pollution, and pollution affects human conditions. As an example, in a landfill, the chemicals that are decomposing are releasing air toxins, harming human's senses. Hydrogen sulfate gases are an example of harmful chemicals, and these gases can cause respiratory problems and irritation in the eyes and nose. When the waste material that could be recycled is burned, that process also releases a whole mass of toxins that people breathe. Finally, recycling helps people in terms of health and
Now we are talking about recycling. So, what actually does recycling means? Turning used materials that are labeled as recyclable over to your local waste facility designated in a disposal container as “recyclable” materials to be taken and reused as material for a new purpose defines recycling . In order to create a new and different product, a recyclable product is turned back into a raw form that can be used. Recycling efforts can significantly reduce additional waste that will not only harm the planet today , but future generations as well.
