Introduction
Education today is divided into two systems the system of formal education and the system of in-formal education. The need of education was felt when the prehistoric people of the world thought they needed a system or a way to transmit their knowledge and culture to the next generations. “Formal education refers to the learning of a nature taking place in educational institutions”. (Townsend, Coles, 1981). The ultimate aim is to obtain qualification but nowadays the only qualification the students is based on gaining economic sources. The system of non-formal education which is the education that we receive while not going to an institute but through the society and the environment is also essential for every country and it is the basis of every type of education. An individual forms his understanding about the world through non-formal education. The ministry of education of every country in the world accepts the importance of in-formal education. “Formal education is preparing the young for life as members of the society. Non-formal education is taking people in their lives’ situations and helping them as quickly and as relevantly as possible.” (Townsend, Coles, 1981). People can be taught to read or write out of school so it can be deduced that non-formal education is a replacement for today’s formal education but not if we improve it by changing the philosophy of our education system. There are many ways but we would have to start from the very beginning and it is very crucial. We have to change our priorities from economic to educational. Many countries are all ready doing this but countries like Pakistan have to increase their educational budget. The teacher training workshops should be made compulsory for all the teachers. The students should be educated on the real aim of education that is to develop an individual’s cognitive skills up to a level that is helpful for society. The employment criteria should also be based on merit, skilled and knowledge of the job and
