Throughout the film the Matrix, there are moments that scare us as humans because that is what our future could look like if we don’t start to be more careful with energy sources and the development of technology. This movie can take two sides, it can definitely inspire us with the technology that is present in the movie like the holograms that show the sentinels progressing to the ship to damage it and kill the people inside it. The side I am choosing is to do with the warnings tied to the movie, what I mean by this is how in one of the scenes Morpheus shows Neo the world at the time of 2199. This warns us about the amount of solar power we consume and we need to reconsider that. The message in the Matrix is nothing new, we have seen it in …show more content…
In the film this quote is true. In the Matrix there are very dark scenes about what the real world will look like and be like if we don’t find an alternative sustainable primary source of energy. For example, the scene when Morpheus says “It was us that scorched the sky, we were too dependent on solar power.” He also says “throughout human history we have depended on machines to survive.” This scene has a variety of different camera angles, like when looking up at the sky it gives it a lot of authority. We have lightning and thunder. This signals an intense amount of danger and also to be aware. This is a message that is heavily spoken around the years and that we have to be aware that there is a limit when we should stop. Stephen Hawking made a quote that is closely related to the topic of the Matrix and artificial intelligence. “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race”. This message is not only conveyed in movies but by one of the greatest physicist ever. This is one of the many reasons that the Matrix is trying to make us caution of the decisions that we make instead of trying to give us ideas that motivate …show more content…
We have Morpheus, the person who was there from the beginning. He saw everything unfold. Morpheus described the world as a dark and gloomy place outside the Matrix. After him we have neo, the solution. Neo didn’t know the world as well as he thought he did. He was a computer hacker at night but in the day he was know as Thomas Anderson. He is the solution to this problem, and everyone but himself believes that. In the Matrix the main colours of the movie are black and green, this hints that it is not just a normal world but the world inside a computer. The Matrix is specifically on a computer which gives the concept more of a real life feeling instead of being hooked into a futuristic time portal. This is what makes the movie intimidating. Another scene is when neo decides to take the red pill, Morpheus gives him a choice to either wake up into the real world or stay in the world he knows. The colours in the film that the siblings choose are amazing. The red colour of the pill can stand for danger and taking a risk while the blue colour is soothing and calm and signals that everything will be fine. This scene is highly linked to the world we know today; we have to take risks to be able to gain knowledge or a skill that we didn’t have
Ray Bradbury is a renowned author famous for his short science fiction stories and his novel "Fahrenheit 421". His works have inspired many and raised numerous questions about what the future may hold. He's quoted as saying "I don't try to describe the future. I try to prevent it." (Bradbury), and in many ways you can see the motif of this mindset in his work.
An individual’s life journey is linked to the process of enlightenment, which can be achieved when one realizes the world they have been dwelling in is an illusion and is not under their own control. The science-fiction movie The Matrix, Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”, and Golden-Globe award winning film The Truman Show all have the same underlying theme of escaping an artificial reality. “The Allegory of the Cave” is a dialogue that criticizes human perception. In the dialogue, prisoners draw a parallel between the dwellers in the cave who believe the shadows on the walls are real to humans who believe in perceptions based on empirical knowledge.
However, Mcnamara warns that the threat of nuclear war still prevails today. He warns that the combination of human error and nuclear weapons will destroy the world. Lesson #3: There’s something beyond one’s self.
The scenario depicted in Ray Bradbury's story; There Will Come Soft Rain is one of destruction. The chilling message, underlined by the irony of robots, is that our society focuses its scientific and intellect on the wrong applications.
The power and capability of technology has grown significantly over the past five years. Further research has been done as these advanced technologies has been implemented into numerous things such as, autonomous driving cars, drones, and robots. These devices are taking over tasks that has been done by humans in the past. These devices soon may be smarter than humans in the future as an event called the singularity may occur. Singularity is the "hypothetical moment in time when artificial intelligence and other technologies have become so advanced that humanity undergoes a dramatic and irreversible change" (oxford).
However, these power sources are only a provisional solution, in time we will scour this planet and solar system in search of stable renewable
The film takes place in the late 90’s where Neo, the protagonist is a computer programmer that works for one of the top companies in the world. However throughout his life, he has always believed that the world he lived in wasn’t quite right. He eventually meets the Rebels, who confirm that nothing is what it seems. The film than unfolds a truth that the people (within the film) are meant to believe that they are living in a calm, beautiful utopia, a paradise where everyone is going about their daily lives. Nonetheless, in reality their lives are nothing but an illusion: a stimulated reality created by machines in order to use humans an energy source.
Like, when Malcolm is seen communicating with his wife at their room with the window open. Here we can observe that there is an amusing use of camera angle to present the interaction between the one living and another dead person. Interestingly, both are unknown about their realties. The symbol of the open window also can be represented as Malcolm is ready to leave for the other world. Also, there is a rich use of varieties of colors in the movie.
We all have a moment that we are looking forward to that helps guide us through our life. This way of thinking is portrayed throughout the
The movie Gladiator by Ridley Scott is a historical Epic film about gladiators and ancient romans wars and historical periods. Epics are not just about wars and action scene the mise en scene of the movies might suggest that, but they underline much more deeper meaning that requires analysis. Epics can target some political point of views or parties and can rebell on then in the form of a nice story. For example in the first biblical epic, Ben Hur it was clear how the system ruling rome was tyrant and was very cruel to the people and followed hierarchy and discrimination. The common people were seen inferior and the film narrative shown how can the hero rise from nowhere to the top, which gives the message that evil doesn’t always win.
Douglas employs notable examples to support his claims and rightfully proves why AI is not as risky as seen by the public. David Parnas’ “The Real Risks of Artificial Intelligence” focuses on the unseen negative aspects of Artificial Intelligence. He argues that AI programs can be untrustworthy and even in some cases, destructive due to the programming approach that programmers take. While Parnas is negative about the concept of Artificial Intelligence, Eldridge see Artificial Intelligence in a brighter light. Both authors present their arguments differently in terms of tone, level of diction, examples and organization.
One more message that even overlaps the main one is the message of hope. As one of the actors said «...you never know, nothing is ever really dead if you look at it right. ». And it is easy to recognize a reminder to appreciate what we have.
This message is what viewers should learn about from the movie and take along with them in
5. CONCLUSION Having analyzed the variety of themes used in The Matrix, it is still hard to assign the trilogy to one particular culture. However, its strong correlation with English-speaking society structure allows us to evaluate the extent, to which the artifacts in the trilogy are linked to the ones in the English-speaking countries. We can find a variety of religious and cultural themes originating or largely present in English-speaking countries: from biblical themes and Christianity, through English literature, to references to intelligence agencies in the United States. All of these show that symbolic artifacts in The Matrix trilogy are linked to religious and cultural themes within the context of English speaking countries to large
— Bill Gates Bottom Line Artificial intelligence was once a sci-fi movie plot but it is now happening in real life. Humans will need to find a way to adapt to these breakthrough technologies just as we have done in the past with other technological advancement. The workforce will be affected in ways difficult to imagine as for the first time in our history a machine will be able to think and in many cases much more precisely than
