The Four Founding Physicians Summary

Over the summer I attended the four day Congress of Future Medical Leaders and it made me realize what I dreamed to become and achieve in life

The quote “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass it’s about learning how to dance in the rain” means that we should learn how to our lives even at struggling times of our lives. There are times when we are feeling down or going through tough times. Weather it’s bad grades or a tragic event.

In The Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation by Joseph J Ellis, the founders of America-Washington, The Adams, Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, and Burr-are discussed and examined from top to bottom. He goes back in time and goes over the events that took place then, explaining to the reader how the decisions the leaders made created the ripple effect that it had on the current time period. Periods in the timeline such as Washington retiring from The Presidency, The arguing between the North and South side over African slave trade, and the issue of the countries national debt are examples of what he discusses. As the book progresses, the reader is given a chance to view the timeline of events from a modern perspective, and

Surgeries have become a routine process.Around fifteen million surgeries are performed a year. They put you under anesthesia, they operate, and you wake up with a little discomfort. However, there was a time where surgeries would happen while the patient was awake and conscious. They tried to keep the pain to a minimum with alcohol and hypnosis, but didn 't drastically change. This all changed on March 30, 1842 when Crawford Long operated on James Venable after he had inhaled sulfuric-ether. James woke up with minimal pain and no recollection of what had happened. On that day Crawford Long single handedly change the course of medicine, but what led up to that pivotal point of his life?

We all know the saying “There is strength in numbers”, and this applies in the case of the Civil War, the bigger your army, the bigger the chance you have at victory. Casualties were at an all time high and the Union and Confederacy scrambled to protect their troops. The Civil War’s staggering number of casualties accounted for calculated tactics, the troublesome lives of civilians and the emergence of proper medical practice in a race to win, and in doing so caused an abundance of trauma for almost everyone in the nation.

Do you think college is worth its cost? In an everyday society technology is changing every minute. College education will make sure that young adults are prepared for the new world and the challenges of working and being responsible citizens.Learning is always worthwhile. According to Rebecca Mead, staff writer for The New Yorker, college teaches students, "to nurture critical thought; to expose individuals to the signal accomplishments of humankind; to develop in them an ability not just to listen actively but to respond intelligently;" all of which "are habits of mind…from which a letter carrier, no less than a college professor, might derive a sense of self-worth."_ College also allows students to explore many different job opportunities.

The earliest medical ideas developed by Greeks and Romans have affected modern day medical principles. Although modernized and based upon to suit our continually evolving society, numerous occasions, practices and conventions that were started years, decades and hundreds of years ago; the medical principles that were developed by the Greeks and Romans are still continued today. The ancient Greek and Roman medical practices have laid the foundations of medicine and medical practices that we utilize today. After people such as Hippocrates and Claudius Galen, who created new developments in the field of medicine, professionals could utilize the prior revelations to get a more detailed knowledge of surgical procedures and diagnosis of diseases.

There have been many cases in today’s government where the ideas and ideals of the United States founding fathers have been put to the test. From School shootings to government debates, wrongful policing to misuse of presidential power, the rights of the people and the principles of our government have been scrutinized. Some contemporary examples of today’s demonstrations of the founding fathers of our nation’s ideas and ideals include the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and different ways our government promotes the general welfare.

Although life during the 1800s and early 1900s weren’t all that great, to begin with, compare that to how asylums treated patients during this time, the normal population life should have seen life as a simple breeze in the wind. There is a reason that our first thoughts when thinking of asylums is horror and it’s because of all of the horror shows that actually happen at these areas. Then comes in a place that has a new idea of treating patients, a new of thinking that never had been seen before. A new revolution when it comes to the psychological medical field. Step in Danvers State Hospital.

The era of medicine before the Civil War wasn’t beneficial. They had just started common practices and having few uneducated nurses. When entering the Civil War diseases and hygiene became a huge problem for the soldiers on the front lines since doctors had little knowledge about medicine. Amputation, Lewis Sayre, and diseases aided the construct of modern medicine from the Civil War.

It is that time of the year once again to apply to the most prestigious university in the world, The Progressive University. It is such an honor to be accepted into this prominent university. The admission committee will thoroughly scrutinize every application submitted. It is a privilege to be applying to this university. There are only five applicants accepted in this university each year; and this year Abraham Flexner should be one of the five to be accepted for his outstanding contribution in reformation of medical education in the United States and Canada. The Progressive University, which was founded in 1890, is one of the most prominent universities in the world. Only the most highly qualified people in the progressive movement are accepted

Many many deaths were blamed upon surgeons in the Civil War, but was it really their fault? Due to a low budget for equipment and the lack of surgeon training , Civil War surgeons were treated unfairly economically and socially after the war.

The constitution did not take into consideration that the states were barely reuniting and were not known for working together or even being together.

Benjamin Rush was a founding father known best for his work as a physician, but that wasn’t all he was. He was also a chemist, writer, teacher/professor, and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Benjamin Rush was much more than what people think he is.

During the Renaissance, the treatment of diseases and advancements is surgical procedures increased. The impact of technology also affected the way people were treated, medically, as well as how the survival rate of injured or sick people. The earliest “doctors” studied at the universities of northern Italy. Epidemic diseases became more common during this time period, diseases such as, the Bubonic Plague, smallpox, the pneumonic plague, and measles. The Renaissance was a time of discovery in the medical field and continues to grow today.
