INTRODUCTION
Communication is defined as the process of giving information or of making emotions and ideas known to someone either verbally or non-verbally, while a business is defined as those organizations which are engaged in the production and distribution of goods and services to earn profit. Therefore Business communication can be defined as, “Flow of information, perception etc. either within a business organization or outside the organization among different parties”.
From the above, it is seen that business communication can be a flow of information or ideas from one person to another or from many people to other people which can either be inside the business (internal) or outside the business (external).
INTERNAL COMMUNICATION
This is how the organization communicates within itself and it may take one of four forms i.e. downward communication, upward communication, horizontal communication and cross-channel communication.
Downward communication is where information is being transmitted from superiors to subordinates to give commands, motivate them and to let them know their expectations.
Upward communication is where information is flowing from subordinates to superiors. It is important because it provides higher management with the information needed for decision-making. It also cultivates employee loyalty by giving employees an opportunity to be heard, to air their grievances, and to offer suggestions. Finally, it provides the feedback necessary to let
