Dystopian societies impose the idea of power of an individual or government that limits freedom, speech, and individuality among its members. The citizens are forced to follow strict guidelines and to worship the head of society. In The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins the dystopian protagonist Katniss Everdeen, is a sixteen year old girl who is naturally skilled in all areas. Her personality and physical traits make her stand out amongst the tributes and guide her to victory of the games. Katniss displays strong personality traits including her braveness, loyalty, selflessness, and many more.

They all have one thing in common- they are all deprived of freedom from the Capitol. Firstly, Rue and Katniss have many things in common including being smart, observant, and fast. Rue and Katniss were both able to use their intelligence to survive in part of the games by themselves. They had to feed themselves, find water, find shelter, and much more. In addition, they are both fast and can quickly climb trees. Otherwise, they really only have one difference- age. Rue is only twelve years old while Katniss is sixteen years old. Another character that Katniss is quite similar to is Gale. Gale and Katniss had a strong relationship in District 12. They both were the providers for the family and Katniss shows appreciation for this when she says, “Good hunting partners are hard to find” (Page 10). One difference between the two is shown after the reaping when Gale says, “ Leave the district. Run off. Live in the woods…” (Page 9). Katniss does not like this solution, she completely disagrees. The two have a difference in the way they escape from their problems. Katniss would rather face it and fight it, while Gale would just run off. Next, Carine and Katniss have both similarities and differences. Carine is Katniss’s mother who suffers from heavy depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder. She began suffering from these conditions after her husband's sudden death. Katniss …show more content…
Her physical characteristics include being fast, athletic, and a great hunter. Combined, her traits she sets forth make her a great candidate for the Hunger Games. Her personality and physical traits make her comparable to other characters in this book. She is very similar to lots of other characters including Peeta and Rue, but also contians some differences to people like her own mother. In conclusion, In The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins the dystopian protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, is naturally skilled in all areas. Her personality and physical traits help her stand out amongst the tributes and guide her to become the victor of the seventy-fourth Hunger Games. The dystopian society in this novel depicts the idea that individuality and freedom are bad- which is a threat in today's world with technology and
Not only do they both fit the common theme, they both are slightly different. The Hunger Games is more set up for death and Katniss has to kill to return home to her family. ‘“Oh, well, I think. There will be twenty-four of us. Odds are someone will kill him before I do,’”(Collins 330).
This makes it more stressful for Katniss’s future, even though she has such a large amount of money. In both texts, they each receive what is most important though,
Katniss is shaped by the people and rules that apply to her. Two characters that are influential to Katniss include: Her father, her best friend Gabe and her beloved sister Prim. Her father was the one that
Katniss realizes in the story that she loves Peeta, and that she can trust him. These differences tell us “The Lottery” and stories that are interestingly
The original Hunger Games book and The Hunger Games film their most content are analogous as the plot development , character relation and the ending. But also they have many differences between them as the appearance, District 12, career tributes and after the games. 1.Appearance: in the book ,katniss and Gale have olive skin and black hair. But in the movie, they are both fair and have brunette hair; in the book, Peeta eyes are blue, but in the film they are brown.
Gale and Katniss are both from District 12 and originate from comparable backgrounds in their battle to survive and accommodate their families. They pay special mind to each other both in the forested areas and outside of the woods areas, and attempt to adjust each other out when the other can't accommodate his/her family. Generally, Gale and Katniss have an equivalent relationship where they are both equivalents in the forested areas, break even with suppliers for their families, and can build upon and add to every others' qualities. They crossed each other paths while hunting in the woods next to District 12.
Rue saw that Katniss was also afraid of getting killed and Rue helped protect Katniss and visa-versa. Katniss has also allied with her crush Gale. Gale has made a lot of sacrifices for Katniss. One of those sacrifices is
The Hunger Games is an unparalleled and daunting movie expressing how the world of a sixteen-year-old girl is turned upside down. Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of the novel and film development, faces setbacks in her life that make for harsh decisions as well as a change in viewpoint. Accompanied by supporters around her including her friends and family, she must learn to navigate past the difficulties she faces. The Hunger Games presents a story of cruelty and indifference in a dystopian world. Each year, there are games that occur involving all the districts as an attempt at peace after years of war.
The theme of the dystopian novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is survival. Katniss Everdeen is the epitome of this theme; her disposition luckily possesses all of the attributes needed to survive. Katniss displays the theme of survival because she is resourceful, has integrity, and has perseverance. One trait of Katniss's that helps project the story's theme of survival is her resourcefulness.
Katniss the main character is a tribute who has to learn to fight for survival. The book had more details, some scenes were not incorporated in the movie and you can read some of Katniss's thoughts before, during and after the Games. The Hunger Games movie missed some details about the book. The book explains Katniss’
Recently, I have finished “The Hunger Games” ( book and movie ). They both have a lot of similarities and differences. First off, we start with the similarities. In both the book and the movie Katniss buried Rue in the flowers after the career killed her with a spear. And after that Katniss was crying over her death.
This change of thought and decision making is only natural due to the nature of the Hunger Games. A large giveaway that Katniss is making decisions that benefit her is the fact that was killing people in the arena. An example of this is when a group of “career” tributes (the tributes that have trained for the Hunger Games since they were young) and Peeta chase Katniss into a tree in an attempt to kill her. They decide rather than follow her up, they would wait it out until she had to come down. Instead of crawling down and accepting her fate Katniss notices a nest full of tracker jackers, which are genetically modified wasps with deadly poison, and decides to cut it down onto the group below her.
Katniss’s identity prior to the Games was almost solely based on hunting and gathering as a means of survival. If she was to in fact win then it would also result in a change of identity because her entire life was focused on that one goal “how would I spend the hours I now commit to combing the woods for sustenance if it were so easy to come by” (65). Katniss’s situation is comparable to if someone won a lottery half way through University, the reason most people go to school is to get a job and make money to support their desired lifestyle. Especially today where people prioritize education so much, for that to no longer be necessary would be extremely alarming and would also result in a change in identity. This is yet another example of how Katniss’s identity is changing due to the games.
Katniss Everdeen: Katniss Everdeen is the protagonist of the novel, and the story is told from her perspective. She is a 16-year-old girl who lives in District 12, the poorest region of a nation called Panem. She has straight black hair, olive skin and gray eyes. This is a common appearance for residents who live in the Seam.
Katniss learns how to be more selfless and not let coming from district 12 define who she is and what she can do. Katniss is a strong, force, and selfless charter who the readers can see a little bit of themselves in her as she develops through the story. The readers also strive to be a little bit more like Katniss everyday because she has the strength and willpower to complete any task that she puts her mind too. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is an amazing book for readers of all
