WW1 was a terrible war between the central powers; Germany, Austria-Hungary and Ottoman Empire against the allied powers; Great Britain, France, Russia and later joined by the U.S. and Italy. The main reason why all the countries got irate at each other was because of the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand the heir to Austria’s throne. But overall the main causes of WW1 were either Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism or Nationalism. I strongly believe that the cause that had the biggest impact on WW1 was Imperialism. My first reason on why Imperialism was the main cause of WW1 was because of geographic purposes.
to take action in the Vietminh’s fight for independence. The domino theory, which reflects America’s fear and the conviction that communism appeared to be a danger for the world, is accepted as the main reason for America’s involvement in the Vietnam War. The American presidents shared the orthodox interpretation, all believing in the containment of communism. Other factors that explain America’s involvement in the Vietnam War are the quagmire and Stalemate theory and the commitment trap. The increased commitment from previous presidents made it more difficult and challenging for the successors to withdraw from the Vietnam.
Imperialism is a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. It is a great way to strengthen the economy and gain power and territory for countries that practice it, though it often failed and resulted in war and the deaths of innocents. Four intellectuals that played a big part in influencing American imperialism were Frederick Jackson Turner, Alfred T. Mahan, Herbert Spencer and John Fisk. All of these influencers had different ideologies and came together to justify American imperialism. They believed America needed to expand power and gain territories.
This implement of skills was crucial to their success. Cornwallis, a highly motivated and experienced leader, was distraught when he heard of these brilliant tactics of Washington and his militias. The British Empire for the first time fell to its knees and even signed off on the breaking away of these colonies. The guerilla tactics were a key-fighting tactic that turned the war around. Guerilla warfare has been used through out history with both successful and non-successful out comes.
They set up the country to become, financially speaking, the largest beneficiary of World War I as the U.S. supplied much of the material used to fight the conflict. It transformed the United States from a debtor nation into the world’s largest lender in a few years. Looking back, the development of the U.S. after the Civil War was inevitable, but the course that it took to get there was not. The Captains of Industry revolutionized their chosen industry and created an economically strong nation that was capable of meeting the challenges of the next century. Were it not for these men, history would have turned out very different for the United
This feeling radiates though the leadership of the country and can be a causing factor of hostilities between nations. This on its own could not create a war as large as ww1, simply the world was set and staged for war and at the core nationalism was degrading the foundations of peace. Militarism, a competition between countries as to who has the largest military was a large factor in the scale of the war and the lives lost. Years prior to the war there was a steady growth in the military strength of all European nations especially those who were involved in ww1 and neighboring one another. As combinations of militarism and nationalism creates a deadly tinder pile ready for a spark.
However, there were also many differences between the two expansionist periods because some people supported imperialism while others were highly opposed to the idea. It was evident in both cases of expansion that the United States was a stubborn nation that would take what they wanted at any cost. Americans risked war and national safety for the purpose of gaining land, or simply proving their dominance as a World Power. Americans pushed aside the Native Americans who inhabited the land they wanted in the early years of expansionism. They believed that the land was
A key part would be how Larson intensively wrote about the dirty antics of the politicians. For example, Alexander Hamilton trying to prevent Adams from becoming Vice President. He willingly put words into Adams’ mouth to make him seem unfit for the position. This has ultimately changed my perspective on Alexander Hamilton. I thought of him as a very key figure in history because of the Revolutionary War not because of his sabotage of political affairs.
The third reason why Germany caused World War 1 is because Germany had the opportunity to start a war that would gain them land. Germany was an industrial powerhouse, and once again Document C shows that Germany had the most money to spend on armies and navies. With Germany spending approximately 115 million British pounds, exceeding Russia 's 90 million British points spent on armaments, it can be inferred that Germany took this opportunity to start a war. Germany knew that a war would help them gain land and remove their burden. Using Austria-Hungary 's war, Germany definitely had the opportunity to side with Austria-Hungary and obtain Russia to relieve their burden.
World War 2 started on 3 September 1939. Although there were many cause for the war, like the failure of the Treaty of Versailles, threat of communism, and appeasement. Hitler and the Nazi party were the main cause, they were linked with all other causes, making them stand out as the ‘main cause’. Everything that had happened after World War 1; the Treaty of Versailles, the Great Depression, Communism and Fascism, all helped Hitler gain trust from the Germans, as he said he would ‘make Germany great again’. Starting another world war within 20 years of the ‘war that was meant to end all wars’.
