A 13-year-old boy named Brian Roberson survives a horrible plane crash in the middle of nowhere. The only item he has to help him with and keep him alive is his hatchet. He is stranded with nobody to help. He is from the city and is hard for him to make it. He uses his hatchet and other items to survive in the wilderness.
Brian’s mother drives him to the airport to see his father in the Canadian oil fields. His mom gives him a hatchet as a parting gift; he puts it on his belt and gets on a bush plane. While flying the pilot shows Brian how to use the controls. Suddenly the pilot becomes ill. Brian realizes that he is having a heart attack; he is frightened and doesn’t know what to do. He tries to call for help but he loses signal and decides
