Change is an important, maybe the most important, part of life. It moves everything around us, and inside us. The novel that this essay is analysing is called The Hate U Give, and it was written by Angie Thomas. In The Hate U Give, a teenage girl named Starr witnesses a police officer unjustly murder her lifelong best friend Khalil, and she must use her voice to fight for his justice and against racism. Starr is a dynamic character as at the beginning of the text, she’s afraid of the two parts of her life colliding, but by the end of the story she has matured and changed to be more open and less afraid, and an internal change is a key aspect of what makes a dynamic character be dynamic. At the beginning of the book, Starr finds her world is …show more content…
Starr and Chris are at the prom, however, Chris has been silent the whole time and hasn’t said a word to Starr. Eventually, she gets mad at him and goes back to the car. When he comes to talk to her, he confronts her about him not telling her she was the witness who saw Khalil die. After they have the conversation about Starr’s previous experiences, she feels a lot better and goes out with her friends, having “one of the best nights of her life.” My lips tremble, and my voice is small. 'I . . . I can’t share that part of me here, Chris.' 'Why not?' 'Because,' I croak. 'People use it against me. Either I’m poor Starr who saw her friend get killed in a drive-by, or Starr the charity case who lives in the ghetto. That’s how the teachers act.' … 'You’re right,' I say. 'I didn’t trust you. I didn’t want you to just see me as the girl from the ghetto.'” (Thomas 139). This is another example of why she has kept her world divided for so long. It also serves as character progression for Starr, as she is becoming even more open about her fears about people from one side of her life viewing the other side negatively with people she trusts, which shows growth from the beginning of the text when she was completely closed off about it. Opening up about her fears as to how people see her to someone is also shown to positively affect her, as she has a great night following her talking with Chris. Another example of Starr changing is when she and her family are back at Uncle Carlos’ house, but this time her dad came with them since they are bringing DeVante to his house to protect him from King, and Chris comes up to them to talk to Starr. “If I can’t stand up to my dad about Chris, how can I stand up for Khalil? Daddy

He isn't minding what people have to say about. (chapter 11) “Chris was fearless… He didn't think the odds applied to him. We were always trying to pull him back from the edge.” That's what made this story amazing you never knew what was coming up next.
Although Janie is not considered a dynamic character in the first two chapters, it is possible for her to become one. She expresses the want to change and the desire to do things her own way, which may lead to an important mental change. Janie’s grandmother hopes that Janie will be able to rise above expectations and lead her own life, “De nigger woman is de mule uh de world so fur as Ah can see. Ah been prayin’ fur it tuh be different wid you” (Hurston 22). A dynamic character is one who changes throughout the novel.
Doesn’t tell the parents he wants to do what and doesn't tell his parents where he goes. In the text it says, “Letter to Carine from Chris about how he was going to “divorce his parents. ”(64). And that parents knew Chris is at where. Parents can find Chris.
The next way Lisa illustrates the Mentor Archetype was during the drive to her brother’s Carlos’s house in chapter nine, Starr blames herself for the rise of all the
Chris had to have known that his parents loved him, and there was never a lack of attention given. Therefore any normal person would easily be characterized as spoiled and entitled to have the audacity to treat their parents like that after everything they had
A Dynamic character is a character who undergoes an important inner change, as a change in personality or attitude. In the play The Crucible the character Reverend Hale changes from a dedicated Puritan, who supports the court and their decisions, to someone who supports the people, and had total belief in the innocence of all those mconvicted and hung in Salem. At the beiging of the play reverend john hale was strict with accusations made from the court. When he entered salem he was faced with the accusation of tituba conjuring.
I did not know he was going to use the gun.” The way that he keeps singling out Chris, shows me that Chris was the alpha. However it could be that he’s trying to indicate that he did these things, but it wasn’t his proposal. He’s ultimately trying to take the heat off of himself,
Therefore Starr’s eyes are finally opening up to what is being said around her, at her predominately white school by Hailey. Starr re-enters school, her mind comepeltely shifted causing her to be more aware of what is being said. “‘Dammit, Starr!’ Hailey yells, recovering the ball. She passes it to me.
There are stories in literature that have characters that are dynamic, static or rounded and so on. We are going to be talking about dynamic characters and how they change throughout any play and any book. A dynamic characters can change how they feel or they can change by their actions during the book or play. An example is by not helping people at the start, but towards the end, they start helping people with the tasks they need help with. In The crucible, two characters stand out as good examples of dynamic characters.
Chris’s parents never really understood what was best for Chris and they never wanted to acknowledge what Chris wanted. Especially when Chris was unprepared when he went into the wilderness. It seemed as
This revelation is evidence that Chris is a hypocrite: someone who acts in contradiction to their feelings. If Chris truly regretted the lost time with his father, he would spend more time with him instead
There were many people he met who tried to talk Chris out of it but since it was just him he never really listened. Shaun Callarman is just one of many people who agree with my ideas of who Chris really was. Shaun says, “I think that Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense,
At first she was broken by the news when she received it. Receiving the news, she suddenly felt like her world had changed. A dynamic character is a character that goes through a change after a conflict or a crisis, this change happens over time. Even though her husband did not die Mrs. Mallard still went through the traumatic experience of losing a loved one.
Williamson Starr holds her tongue when people piss her off so nobody will think she’s the ‘angry black girl.’ Williamson Starr is approachable… Williamson Star is nonconfrontational. Basically, Williamson Star doesn’t give any reason to call her ghetto” (71). Rather than internalizing the racism, she acknowledges the racial stereotypes and sacrifices the expression of her cultural background and unified identity to achieve inclusion and disprove the notion that all African Americans act a certain way.
