In search of compensation for their aid and losses, the humans of Lake Town and elves march to the Lonely Mountain for a share in the treasure but are denied by Thorin and they end up besieging the Front Gate. Bilbo attempts to make peace by joining the humans but fails. At this moment, an army of goblins and Wargs storm the mountain, and this forces the humans, elves and dwarves to join together to defeat a common enemy. They almost lose, but the arrival of Beorn and the eagles secures the win. After the battle, all peace between the different parties is restored and Bilbo and Gandalf return to Bag End, where Bilbo continues to live today.
First of all, in The Hobbit Bilbo Baggins starts out as a cozy little hobbit living in the countryside to a skillful burglar. As the story progresses Bilbo saves the dwarves many times. Bilbo proves his loyalty as he changes to become an adventurous burglar. All throughout “Riddles in the dark” J.R.R Tolkien shows the reader that Bilbo has changed. Secondly, in A long way gone Ishmael also undergoes huge change Ishmael begins his story as a small playful boy and changes into a weapon.
After a hero’s many trials, they face their ultimate enemy, and for Bilbo that is Smaug, the dragon. Smaug shares qualities from the other does Bilbo faced, but with more powers and fearsomeness. Facing many new enemies in his trials, they all leave Bilbo something in return for defeating them such as the knowledge that no adventurer will be left behind, courage and respect from the dwarves as he helped set them free when all hope seemed to be lost, confidence and willingness to fight and lastly, the knowledge that while his friends can protect him, he can protect his friends. Gandalf uses his voice manipulation to make him sound as if he is one of the trolls. When he imitates the troll 's voice he is able to trick trolls through magic. According to the movie, Jackson makes Bilbo speak to the trolls on how to cook dwarf, which Gandalf in the book does by using his voice manipulation to stall Bert, Tom, and William. Bilbo tells the trolls that cooking dwarf should be done when they don’t have skin, to make their meat tastier. This advice Bilbo uses stalls the trolls, so they will be killed by the rising of the sun which the director accomplished to make the movie more interesting.When, Peter Jackson uses the different lighting and angles to get a close up on Bilbo face, he makes this part of the movie more intriguing.

Riddles are a major component in The Hobbit. Gollum and Bilbo have their riddle contest and because Bilbo wins, he escapes from Gollum's lake alive. This is probably a good thing since the dwarves would've died many times without him. The riddle of the moon-letters hinders the plot a little, but it adds a sense of mystery to the story. When Bilbo came upon the mountain and visited Smaug, he introduced himself in riddles so that Smaug would not know who he was.
This story contains ideas known as the hero’s journey. Once the green knight appeared, he tells the court that he’s heard many things about them and their bravery. The court tries not to show their fear towards the green knight, but his presence alone was both terrifying and mesmerizing.
