Like many genocides the Holocaust was one of the worst recorded in history. The Holocaust happened during World War II when Hitler became the leader of Germany in 1933. The War was mostly present in Europe, East Asia or the Pacific Islands but the Holocaust, which was a genocide of Jews, took place in Europe. Nazi’s and SS officers would storm the houses of Jews and move them into ghettos eventually ending up in a concentration camp. Some would die on their way there but mostly all the deaths occured in the camps. There were many people who either supported it, contributed in it by helping those in need or being bystanders by not doing anything. Luckily out of the few people that did do something to help out the Jews the couple, Antonina and Jan Żabiński, saved over three hundred Jews.

The Holcaust was the persecution, and deliberate murder of six million jews. The Holocaust took place in Europe and all over the globe.Holocaust started in 1930 and ended in May 8th, 1945. There many of the Jews were separated from their families tortured, and killed. Even though this was a hard time to live through there were some heroes who tried to save the Jews by hiding them or even making them fake passports to get away. One of the heroes was Sofka Skipwith who got fake paperwork from the French to help the Jews escape.

Jews that lived during the Holocaust were robbed and deprived of their God given rights and humanity.. They slowly lost hope, faith, family, and the reason you keep living. This is dehumanizing because people are born needing a family to depend on and once they lose something as simple as that, they fall into a pit of negative emotions. Thousands of people lost their family members during the holocaust and the Germans had absolutely so sympathy towards them. The Nazis continued their torment by killing large groups of people in small, confined areas. This is supported by a Jew among Wiesel when he said, “we can’t let them kill us like that, like cattle in the slaughterhouse”(31).

The result of such actions were the deaths of millions during the Holocaust, a devastating genocide aimed to eliminate Jews. In this tragic event, people, both initiators and bystanders, played major roles that allowed the Holocaust to continue. Bystanders during this dreadful disaster did not stand up against the Nazis and their collaborators. This action of silence encouraged more people to follow, which lead to Hitler and the Nazi Party’s rise to power without having to face formidable opposition. Literature can help us remember and honor the victims of the Holocaust by seeing the different points of view, reading the evidence, and studying the forever recorded history.

The Holocaust was nothing short of mass genocide an entire culture just because they didn’t fit in with a government “vision”, which made them easy scapegoats for the Nazi Regime for problems that came to Germany after the First World War. So when the Holocaust started, many refuges evacuated Germany and parts of Europe for places such as Palestinian, which was once apart of their homeland. But when the new people there, the Arabians, would limit or even try and stop them from getting in, it created a heavy tension that has lasted to this day.

Hitler did all this because he thinks that the jews were the reason why they lost WW1. In 1942 2.7 million jews were killed because of Hitler. The Holocaust was a horrific tragedy which started in January of 1933 and ended in May of 1945, the Holocaust was the mass murder of millions of people. So many countries took place in this 12-year genocide, including, “Germany, Italy, Japan, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria, which were also known as the Axis Powers” (Steele 34). This quarter we have read many text on the Holocaust and it survivors and their ability to escape the concentration camps. In the historical text read this quarter, they show many types of themes and lessons of the stories. The most important one  has to be “bravery” because the stories shows how some people had the ability to escape Hitler and The Nazis.
