Introduction For decades there has been a great controversy as to whether or not the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justified. It is often argued that these bombings were hideous atrocities the likes of which the world has never seen before, ones born of a nation’s thirst for vengeance and desire to exhibit its military and technological superiority. Some argue that though the bombings brought about the end to the Second World War, the deaths of more than two hundred thousand people cannot be a justifiable sacrifice. Others disagree completely and state that these deaths were a small price to pay to end the war that had ravaged millions more. Nazi war criminals have evaded law enforcement for over 80 years. The prosecution of the war criminals have stretched far and wide in order to get to the level that the prosecutors have reached. It has been declared that the people will not settle for the injustice presented upon them from the Nazi criminals. Continuing to prosecute Nazi war criminals is not only just, it is essential in order to attempt to right the wrongs done to the victims of the Holocaust, prove to disbelievers, and in order to remember the victims.

While we can easily argue that Nazi Germany and Hitler’s rule was a totalitarian regime there were some aspects of the German life that were not controlled by the Nazis and there were some groups who managed to see through the front that Hitler was putting and opposed him. Education and the German Youth is a big example of indoctrination and the Nazi totalitarian regime as what was taught to the future of Germany was very selective. Teachers who had been teaching throughout the Weimar Republic saw this new method of teaching in a different way than younger people and as such many of them were fired because the Nazi’s feared that they might teach the german youth the old ways which Hitler viewed as a period of weakness and failure. For the children living in Germany at the time of Hitler’s rule, the Nazis were a new and exciting thing and when the Hitler youth was formed children felt like they were a part of something and even enjoyed wearing the uniform. They were also taught to love Hitler which is now seen as a form of indoctrination because you are teaching kids that not liking Hitler is a crime.
These people needed only a group of convicted ideologues to pursue and actualise those ideals, and therefore were not forcibly driven out of fear to follow and approve of the Nazi Party. In a socio-economic context, Jews were mostly prevented from practicing the normal rights accorded to the rest of the members of society before the ascending of Hitler to power (they were prevented from land ownership for instance). Every enemy was demonised. This was usually done with posters and flyers constantly associating them with skulls and monsters, so that even if nobody read them, Germans would still have those associations built up against their enemies. Hitler made everyone believe that his cause would be the best course of action for Germany to take in recovery. One of the themes used in this was the idea of their “Ideal” Aryan race. His campaigns were so successful that even at the end of the war, when his misdoings were shared with the world, many Germans still saw him as a savior and true hero of Germany.
Why didn’t the US go rescue these Jews? FDR was supported by a large percentage of the Jewish population. We could have let more of them in as refugees or reached other compromises. On the other hand, we have arguments saying that Hitler, Nazi, or Germany was responsible since they were the perpetrator, and the perpetrator is always the culprit. They did it so naturally their most to blame for what happens, which seems like common sense for most people.
It was used by Hitler in an attempt to belittle, and dehumanize Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, etc. In a way, it justified, and took away from the belligerent acts of the German government. The Holocaust. That may just be words to some people, but to others, this was the most devastating thing ever to happen to one human race. The Holocaust happened because Hitler blamed Jewish people for losing World War I. The Holocaust was mostly to get rid of people that Hitler didn’t see as the superior race.
In other words, without the idea of the final solution the Nazis would’ve never had a motive. Maybe could’ve even prevented the war. But they did have the idea and with that idea came the deaths of many. In total, german authorities and their collaborators killed up to six million Jews.
Similar to the first World War, World War II was a dispute between powers and or countries and involved the death of million of civilians and militants of those disputing countries.
