Melinda’s grades dropped drastically. She hid out around the school and wasn’t participating in class. Melinda tried to do an extra half assignment but because she didn’t talk she has to do more, to her it just isn’t worth it. Melinda’s mom expects her grades to increase but we doubt it would happen. The film argues that the Native people believed the American Government did not have their best interest in mind. In fact, they felt that the Government was denying them their basic human rights. Throughout the years, the government has stripped the Native people of their dignity, liberty, and way of life. The people on Maple Street heard the sound of the roar and the flash of light, and they freaked out. They wonder what caused it. Some people assume it’s probably just a meteor, but some thought it’s an alien or some sort of dangerous creature. There were many great characters throughout the story. However, Charlie stood out the most because he keeps blaming people.
Duke’s attention was drawn to a collection of teens males gathered outside a room several doors down. Duke recognized emblems on their jackets--Those hardtacks from 456th Street…The Strongarms. For a moment Duke kept his distance. He just wanted to observe in case nothing was going on but from the look at mess on the floor around the door’s entrance, trouble was just a few feet away. The 456th Street Strongarms were a menacing bunch, not necessarily due to their numbers but their cavalier attitude--they simply didn’t care.
