Have you ever dreamt or thought about a huge game of people trying to kill each other. The Hunger Games is a novel about Katniss Everdeen, who's forced to fight other children in an arena. The book takes place in Panem, which was once North America and has limited resources. In order to keep the citizens under control, the government separates them into districts and reinforces class differences. In the novel the hunger games examples of standing up to the capitol are when katniss snuck under the fence around district 12 katniss , katniss buries rue in flowers,and when katniss and Peeta threaten to eat the berries.

Katniss shows standing up to the capitol in many ways in this book, One of them is when katniss sneaks under the fence in district 12. When katniss said that she was trying to tell us how she abuses living in district 12 to stand up to the capitol, the capitol doesn't care about them the fence is turned off and they mine coal for a living.“Separating the Meadow from the woods, in fact enclosing all of District 12, is a high chain linked fence” …show more content…

Peeta says this when Katniss and him threaten to eat the berries. He told her to hold them out because he wanted to capitol to be afraid of them eating the berries and not having a winner. “Hold them out. I want everyone to see. This quote proves my thesis in the way of, Peeta and Katniss were holding the berries and Peeta wanted everyone to see them, threatening to eat the berries the capitol had to act fast and they quickly made the announcement to let them both win. This part of the story was a huge changing point because if they didn't threaten to eat the berries only one of them would have won so doing this scared the capitol because they wouldn't have a winner.
