The Dutch are a part of Europe, as a result the Dutch are Christians, Protestant. The Dutch are well known for colonizing in Indonesia, in fact the “Dutch stayed there for over 400 years (Colinwrightaas).” When the Dutch arrived like any other explorers they came for spices that could not grow back in Europe, and spices was a major thing because it gave them more money. Even Indonesia is known as the spice islands and, “a nutmeg bag can cause a lot of money.” (Stover). Although when the Dutch came they did not focus much on spreading the gospel, there are some people from the Netherlands who came and spread the gospel, “because the VOC (Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie), allowed some missionaries to come to Indonesia with one condition no …show more content…

“The VOC became involved in the Javanese politics, which led to political control of the islands of Indonesia, The VOC technically became the government” (Watkins). “According to Colinwrightaas the Dutch took control of most of the Indonesian government, the Indonesians had no say in the government, even the Dutch controlled the Indonesian government for over 400 years, during around the 1920s and 1930s in Indonesia, the Dutch finally allowed high class Indonesians to get involved in some government, things went good for Indonesia, as after its independence things went smoothly for Indonesia, unlike Africa who once given its freedom some of its countries violently clash” (Colinwrightaas). Even though the Dutch did effect the political state of Indonesia in a bad way, for example by shutting down the locals and did not allow Indonesians to take part in the government. However slowly and surely the Dutch allowed some high-class Indonesians and finally when Indonesia was freed ,everything went smoothly in a sense even though the Dutch did some bad things not only Indonesia gets hurt about it but also it helped
