Social media brought a new face of businesses to the public. The benefit to businesses from social media is a more indirect same way as public relations. However, some companies can measure the overall effect of integrating social media into the network. Measurement of the effect of social media lies in the impact of the use of social media towards the increase in sales. A company also can measure the effect of social media through the number of Twitter followers, Facebook fans, and YouTube channel subscribers. Merrill et al. depict that social networking offer great opportunities that other public interfaces have not been able to. It has been able to offer real-time perception and feedback towards product and service delivery. Failure to act may lead to negative feedbacks going viral through the interconnected social platforms, and this may damage the business’ profile (Evans, et. al, 106). Having a chance to express opinions, customers tend to feel more connected to the company. The ability to do so on a real time basis supplements their connection and loyalty to the company. These groups and pages are used to pass information such as new products in the market, offers in the market and clarification of emerging issues to customers. Customers have the chance to express their views and complaints, which are addressed instantly by administrators of these groups and pages. Facebook offers diverse presentations as videos, photos and links can be uploaded. There is facilitation for the dissemination of information to existing and potential customers. Using Facebook for interaction and marketing is effective due to the large number of people accessing it per day. Moreover, access to Facebook attracts low costs, and also people can access information posted earlier quickly and with ease.
