Industrial Revolution started in Great Britain and later progressed to the United States between the years 18th and 19th century. Humans were transformed from handmade and tools to the assistance of machines. The main purposes for Industrial Revolution happened was peoples want an improvement for their life in order to overcome the hardship during the 18th century. Without the Industrial Revolution, it can be argued that the world today would not have a better standard of living through technology advancements, medication and educations.
One of the most amazing machines that was created during the Industrial Revolution is The Spinning Jenny. It was made because of Blackburn Greys, That was a linen cloth that was usually shipped to London. When people started to love them, they had trouble keeping up with the demand. So they made the Flying Shuttle, It made them twice as fast as before. Then, again they could supply the demand, they had to keep trying to make them faster.
With the invention of steam power, invention of transporting using steam engine also started. Consequently steam engine locomotives such as steam ships and internal combustion mechanized ships were invented (Stearns outline 6). As I studied in my high school, in the same century of industrial revolution, wright brothers also invented the airplane, which consisted increased speed of transportation. Hartwell in his journal, “The Causes of the Industrial Revolution: An Essay in Methodology”, justifies the market expansion that includes the trading activities in 18th century. Hartwell suggested the reasons for the expansion of trading as a result of industrial revolution as the increase of domestic demands caused effective foreign transports (168).
The world came across with lots of revolutions in terms of politic, social, and economic and so on. Although there might be some evidence that Capitalism helped improve the lives of the British people from 1760-1880, it mostly caused them hardship and pain. During the industrial revolution, the idea of capitalism began to expand across Britain and several job opportunities became available for the working class. They saw this an opportunity for a better life, higher wages, a better system than what they had working at the farms. What they did not realize was that this system alongside the industrial revolution brought child labor in factories, bad working conditions, and creativity-killing jobs which only made life worse for the British people. In class, we talked about the influence trains had on time and how it impacted people to direct their schedule according to the change in time rather than looking up to the sun. Trains were a major improvement in reducing the time needed to reach a certain point or destination, and helped to bring a new type of transportation that was not only fast but efficient as well. The clock helped people to adapt to the new change and ease them in the process of getting comfortable with work from that point on.
