Many of the concerns of the ethicality of animal experimentation is understood by the people who still believe animal testing is necessary. Many regulations are enforced on animal studies in an attempt to make them as moral as possible. Additionally, there are also campaigns that advocate the regulation on animal testing “ which advocates the search (1) for the replacement of animals with non-living models; (2) reduction in the use of animals; and (3) refinement of animal use practices “ (Hajar 7). They understand the upset at the idea of animal testing, and they want to appease the masses by keeping the testing as humane as it can possibly be. Even with all of the outcry, there is a large group of people that see animal experimentation as a necessary evil.
In spite of that, some people believe that animal testing is not essential and it should be banned because animals are different from humans physically. In addition, they believe that animal tests are a waste of time and money and there are lower cost alternative methods and more effective. Our purpose of this essay is to prove that animal testing is important and has a lot of benefits and advantages for humanity. Using animals in medical and scientific experiments is necessary, because it finds many cures and treatments, animals bodies are almost similar to the human bodies, also it benefits the animals themselves from diseases. One of the major issues that support animal testing is the fact that it has been used successfully in history to develop cures and treatments for diseases which killed human being in large numbers.
The animals are being hurt, mentally and physically. Animals should not be used in dangerous jobs because they are being taken advantage of, and sometimes even abused. Animals are constantly dying due to being forced to partake in experiments, and it is not morally right to use animals in such dangerous situations. The military is using and taking advantage of innocent animals. Groups such as the army use animals, like cats and pigs, to perform medical training on.
Hunting has a deeper meaning to some people and to take that away from them is in some ways inhumane. In addition, the detrimental wildlife issues that would emerge if hunting were no longer an option to keep animal populations under control would increase significantly. The idea of keeping hunting alive is crucial to keep our wildlife safe. Hunting may not apply to all people in the world, but it has to be done. In today’s world there is no other possible way to manage our wildlife in such an effective manner as we do it now.
Becoming a veterinarian (vets) takes a lot of of work and effort. Education and training is a long and competitive process to even become a veterinarian. Some duties and responsibilities vets do are treating small or large injured animals, and are responsible for other helping their owners care for their animals. The working environment and hours range for different veterinarians who work with different animals. The competitive and hard-working career is worth it though for the high-paying salary and the love for their career.
With lines being crossed in animal experimentation, many feared that human experimentation might be the next step. The evidence to back the claim lies within the animal experimentation field. Animals suffered when officials performed experiments on them. Susan E. Lederer writes, "Antivivisectionists warned repeatedly that the failure of enact legislative safeguards for animal subjects would inevitably lead to human experimentation" (Lederer 45). The lack of regulations among animals made people wonder if the same could be done to them.
The existence of different opinions on animal welfare and differentiation in the price of meat play an important factor on consumption behavior of the consumers. The current price system of cheap meat does not lead the market of animal welfare to the optimal level because the harmful environmental effects of livestock production are not reflected in the price of cheap meat. The market of animal welfare will reached its optimal level due to policy implementation by the government. Government intervention shall decrease the social costs of livestock farming and increase the social benefit of animal welfare. Ultimately the solution to animal welfare must be based on a real sense of moral responsibility towards animals.
Often animal testing fails, and it is cruel to play with their lives. However; animal testing saves not only lots of people's lives, but also animals’ too. It is very important and even necessary for having a healthy environment, without diseases. It is unethical to keep animals in laboratories and make them suffer from pain. However, animal research is highly regulated with laws, and any unjustified action will not take place during the testing.
This new policy ensures that the use of animals is permissible as long as it is approved by the necessary agencies and standards of animal welfare and care. By this law, this protects the animals from abuse from illegal animal testing. Clinical testing were filtered and sort out after the law was enforced to minimized the use of animals. Through this laws and procedures, animal testing is acquiring more positive feedback since the officials are doing something to minimized and protect them. Considering it morally, is a judgment where we have to think of the greater good and the benefits it may give the humans.
Animal rights are essential primarily due to present practices of animal abuse, animal hunting, and animal experimentation. Furthermore, animal are in many ways just like humans. They have emotions and families; it is non-moral to harm the animals in ways that we know is not appropriate to do for humans. Even Allah command us to respect them. Do Animals Have Rights?
