Even though he has a quite abusive and unpleasant teacher, he is still determined to success, and he wishes to make his teacher proud. To prove to her, that he is in fact not useless and horrible. “My fear and discomfort crept beyond the borders of the classroom and accompanied me out into the wide boulevards… These things were out the questions, as they involved to speak… When the phone rang, I ignored it... If someone asked me a question, I pretended to be deaf”. (p.7 ll.
Most students learn by constructing knowledge based on an engaged learning process rather than by absorbing knowledge from passive sources. The diversity of student backgrounds, abilities and learning styles makes each person unique in the way he or she reacts to information. The intersection of diverse student backgrounds and active learning needs a comfortable, positive environment in which to take root. Dr. King continues by explaining, “Education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals.” From back then to today’s society, kids are failing because they lack those morals that they need to succeed.
This feeling of lack of freedom comes from tons of work to do and also from feeling that the work they complete is not amusing or interesting. This aspect is a massive problem for everyone! If students are unable to enjoy learning, what will become of our future? In the United States, the goal of the public education system is supposed to prepare students for college, citizenship, and future workplaces. As well as teaching them how to become critical thinkers and teach them the accommodations for future workplaces.
Teacher’s indifference is highlighted by the categories unresponsive to student questions, apathetic to students, and inaccessible to students outside of class. Teachers described in these categories are unapproachable, impervious to questions, and show little concern for students. Sarcasm and putdowns was ranked as the number one misbehavior among 13 categories. This particular misbehavior deals with the issue that teachers verbally abuse students, such as speaking in a sarcastic and rude way, making fun of and humiliating them, picking on those whom he/she
This is how you also stop panning your lessons based on your whimsical ideas. Haste makes waste so you need not to do hurry when it comes to finding out what exactly students want, only then you will be able to map ways to enhance their learning. After sizing up the teaching methodologies of legendary educators in the past, it can be safely concluded that there is no substitute to smarten up our teaching skills, if it is our innermost desire to students excel in their studies and build unshakeable personality. Playing loose and fast can cost dearly to the future of students – after attending your session they must know how to probe into a matter and how to think & imagine. This way, you do not confine students to only classroom learning but broaden their horizons spurring them to gain holistic
The word “bored” means to feel impatient because one is unoccupied or lacks interest in his current activity. This suggests that the persona is dispassionate and unexcited most of the time. The statement can also suggest that the persona is careless in lazy and does not intend to be occupied. This makes the reader feel displeased because of the fact that he does not attempt to become a working or active person. The writer does this to display how most teenagers were disinterested in working in the 1980s.
Different people have different problems. These include personal life, mental state, or parental problems (see Figure 2 below). Study skills cannot teach the student how to avoid these problems. The student needs to learn to be motivated because if there is motivation the student will be more confident. Also, he needs to study in a good environment to be psychologically comfortable because when the student feels free and happy, he can do his best to get good grades.
Happiness is the single hardest emotion to define. It varies from person to person, is affected by many different things, however it is generally accepted that it is “a holistic view of a person’s well-being”. While our society encourages the search for happiness and well being throughout our lives, under our current education system we do not set ourselves up for success. Instead of teaching happiness and encouraging well-being from a young age, we stress the importance of grades, bury children in work while expecting them to maintain a social life and taking part in sports. This in combination with the lack of support teens have to deal with in and out of school issues has had disastrous; depression and anxiety in teens is growing every year, kids are more stressed about grades at an earlier age.
FACTORS IN STUDENT MOTIVATION Teachers across the country have been struggling with the issue of how to stimulate new student’s interest mentally, socially and academically who are not ready for the demands of college life. This issue often trigger behaviours like lateness, oppositional disorder and uncertain ambitions. The standard way is to address the issue as scholastic issue through formative guideline. This programme doesn’t address the entire issue. Lack of motivation is not constrained to the scholastically weak students.
Chapter No.1 1. Introduction The history of advance nation display that motivation play a key role in learning. According to Dr. Ken Shore motivational problem is not always easy to define, although teachers usually have no trouble recognizing it: The unmotivated student is the one whose attitude toward schoolwork or university assignments is screams, "I don 't care!" The research intended to explore the reasons of unmotivated student. Why he puts more work into avoiding academic challenges than he puts into tackling them.
