Accent And Pronunciation In Second Language
What is accent? Why we do have specific accent in first and second language?
Why in one geographic region, people have different pronunciations or accent? Why
two people who speak the same second language have different accent on their
second language? Why second language adult’s learners never are flaunt as native
speakers? What factors influence on this topic? How we are describing this
definition? These were some of the unclear questions about this topic that I decided
to do a research for my literature review in second language acquisition course. I
have found so many articles and also I have watched some work shop online about
this topic that I will discus them on my paper.
In this study, research I have developed my goal in order to find out how to
improve correct accent in second language in adults? And also I have learned about
effects of pronunciations, using of instruction in many sources that I have found on
my research. I will discuss about problems that prevent learners to succeed with
this issue and also materials to improve and solve the issue in second language
learners. There are so many questions about this topic that I was interested to learn
about it specially for my personal issue and also helping me in the future to learn
how to teach ESl in academic departments as a second language teacher, also I
would like to learn about differences between
“Speakers choose among sociolinguistic variants available; their choices group together in ways which are obvious and interpretable to other speakers in the community”(68), Green says in context to the fact that inside speech communities, specific languages seem normal but once you leave that area, it may be hard to communicate as effectively with others. The way that people communicate is the way they are able to relate to their neighbors, when you take that away from them you take away their allegiance and their sense of loyalty to their community (68). Even if two people who speak different versions of English, they are both speaking English and will be able to understand each other, but communication is always easier and more effective when conversing with someone who has a similar linguistic style, or with someone from a related culture. Even when all parties are willing to work hard and share the burden of communication, sometimes accents can be too much of a barrier and prevent full
Prioritizing for a passion. This statement directly relates to chapter one and two in “What the Best College Students Do,” by Ken Bain. Throughout the chapters, Bain provides examples of successful people, studies, and tools to support his idea that learning surpasses grades in the scheme of life. To accomplish the skill of learning, students must possess determination, drive, and passion.

It is very difficult because the accent is difficult to understand when you are communicating with some local person. Secondly, when you are in class, it is very difficult to understand the lecture because teacher speaks very fast and you cannot follow the class notes. In that case, one should adapt a habit of reading books and newspaper (Wendroff, 2013). I also kept an English dictionary in my earlier days in US so that I can understand and learn English without getting into any trouble someday. Learning English is important because it makes a person understand about the new culture in a better ways.
The languages are greatly different from one another. There is the main land’s dialect, the neighboring island’s dialect, and the English language, the language that we use to communicate to one another. To add the cherry to the icing, each language has their own rules of phonemes and word structure. During the stage of my reading development I was introduce to two different ways of sounding out letters. My mother was teaching me how to read using the pronunciation from
Throughout the world there are many different cultures and just one aspect that gives culture its uniqueness is the dialect or language. Language is composed of many different symbols that everyone in a given culture understands, they have a universal meaning. Just because one culture has a symbol for understanding something, doesn 't mean that another culture will share that same meaning. Language for many cultures is what generated that culture, and what made it distinctly different from the others around it. Language can be in a form of art, music, or simply dialect.
While I was growing up my parents wanted us to speak Spanish at the house or when we were around them; this taught me to be bilingual. Being bilingual is an amazing opportunity because you can connect with more than one culture. For my family it was allowing us to keep the culture we have from Mexico alive. Culture is dear to our hearts and we want to remember where we come from and never forget. Speaking another language is fun at some points because we go to the grocery store and the cashier would start having conversations with us in Spanish.
So why did school start in the first place and why is it still going on now? The reason why education formed in the past is because the people wanted to let the next generation know what they know so that lessons learned don’t have to be learned again. Today’s education is benefited by the world of technology. This new technology provides information as well help in many ways to people. A big factor in effective children is their diet and exercise.
Dialects are not just accents but also grammar, vocabulary, syntax and common expressions used. One is able to identify and distinguish between different people, different ethnicities and races as people speak different languages. Each human belongs to a community which makes them speak a specific language and dialect that represent their community and differentiates them from others. Language connects people to their community as they are connected to people that speak the same

The Aural-Oral Approach in English Language Teaching In English language teaching there are several approaches that can be applied in a classroom. Each one has purpose and gives concern to certain skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) development. One of these approaches is Aural-Oral Approach. The Aural-Oral Approach is based on developing two language skills: listening and after that speaking which is the earlier stage of learning a language (Geri, 1990).
Research Questions From the literature review, it was established that there were several factors affecting language learning and acquisition. More specifically, it was revealed that factors such as exposure at an early age, motivation, attitudes, incentives and educational system can influence language acquisition. However, most of the research were conducted in the west and were focused on students as subjects to the study and foreigners working in the country where they need to learn the language to lengthen their range of employment opportunity.
