The title of our assignment for the subject Building Services and Equipment is all about acoustic. The definition of acoustic is the total effect of sound, especially as produced in an enclosed space. In fact, acoustics is derived from Greek word "akouein" which means ‘to hear’, and it is the branch of science that deals with sound, including its generation, transmission, analysis and perception. Generally, acoustics is usually broadly defined as “the science of sound”. Furthermore, sound may also be defined as vibration that travels through the air or pressure changes in an ‘elastic’ medium which are capable to be heard when they reach a person 's ear. The arrangement of different functions within the building and the appropriate acoustic design of construction and components are the essential aspects here to fulfill different need. The expression ‘good acoustics’ is mostly associated with concert halls, opera houses and theatres. That is no doubt that good acoustics is vital for such venues. And in rooms for musical performance or rehearsal, acoustics that are too live or too dull are both undesirable. Conversely, a ‘good acoustics’ is not necessary in an area which has to be comfort such as living room, shopping complex, library, and bedroom and so on. For example, a library, a place which generally provide the most comfortable physical environment for students in order to make a conducive to their study while doing their revision, discussion or research at library, the university will be more emphasize on require a good sound insulation or even a better sound absorption material to reduce the sound level rather than "good acoustics ' to ensure the environment of library as quietly as possible such as the need to control potential noise from the busy public plaza
