Israel Andrade Baseball subculture a. The subculture that I would like to study is baseball. I would like to study the individuals who participate in this sport as well as those who follow it. The reason for my interest in this subculture is that I’ve been a casual participate of this culture as I have played baseball during high school as well as attended a few professional games, but I want to learn more about the individuals who devote their spare time to baseball. The game of baseball is very prevalent in American culture it has even been titled America's pastime.
If there is one thing I hate it has to be losing. With that thought pumping threw my brain, it drove me to train harder than I have ever before. Every day and night I did, 1000 push-ups for more power. After my morning push-ups, I would go outside to a fence post with a tire tied around it and practice my bat speed and batting footwork. Sometimes when my dad comes home on time I can go to the batting cages ,and work on my soon to be perfect swing.
He was elected into the Major league Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot which is very impressive because not many people make it on the first ballot, not even today. Today the MLB honors Jackie Robinson by everybody in the league wearing the number 42 which was the number he wore when he played baseball. The league wears the number 42 on April 15th which is known as Jackie Robinson Day and if there is any teams that don't play on the 15th they will celebrate it on the 16th to honor it still. Every year they bring the Robinson family out on the Dodgers field to celebrate the special event. While in the MLB Robinson played for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1947 to 1959 under many different managers including Branch Rickey. Rickey had been interested in Robinson because of not only his skill but his ability of not to fight back (Rubinstein 20-25). On August 28, 1945, Rickey had a meeting with Robinson and Rickey told Robinson that he would have to deal with the greatest harassment and vituperation any player had ever faced (Rubinstein 20-25). Little League World Series The Little League World Series is a baseball tournament for kids of the age of eleven to thirteen. This tournament has been going on since 1947 in South Williamsport. The tournament has been broadcasted since 1982. There are two halves of the tournament, one half is in the United States and the other half is in the other countries all over the world. Hank Aaron was born on February 5,1934 to Estella and Herbert Aaron. He was the third of eight children, and they lived in a poor black section of Mobile, Alabama up until he was eight years old then his family moved to the middle-class Toulminville neighborhood.
