1.1 INTRODUCTION
The butterfly is an insect from Order Lepidoptera. They are known as the second largest order of arthropods and most easy to find and identified (Alarape et.al, 2015). It includes in two groups of Lepidoptera, which is Rhopalocera group while another group is moths under Heterocera.

The butterfly is a day-flying (diurnal) insect and usually brightly colored and often exposed to sunshine which can distinguish them with moths. The butterfly has two pairs of large wings which covered with scales and sometimes got hairs (Abang, 2006). The life cycle of a butterfly is a complete metamorphosis which consists of four developmental stages; the egg, larva, pupa, and adult (Abang, 2006). It also is known as holometabolous insects and it depends on the availability of food plant for caterpillar (Dahelmi, 2000) and adult (Mevi-schutz and Erhardt, 2005). …show more content…

It has commercial value since it is useful in silk production. They are important as pollinators of flowering plants and used as an indicator of environmental quality.
