Celestial bodies and planets seem to determine our calendars, in addition, to our time. Consequently, time plays a major key role in each and every decision or plans that make up our events. As a result, time and calendars make up our seasons when they are uninformed about the celestial bodies. Whether it is winter, spring summer or fall, we perceive to be of service to the celestial bodies. Not only do the calendars and time in it give us seasons, but they also devote us a variety of holidays. Ultimately, presenting nighttime or dawn.
@ To begin with, there are plenty of cultures that have created calendars with time for them, but how? It is demonstrable and logical that we could not have one single calendar for one and all on this planet.

It is significant to know that the Gregorian calendar corrected the Julian calendar. The dilemma was that the Julian calendar was 365 1/4 days long and the actual solar year is 365.24 days long. Since the Julian calendar exceeded the solar year by eleven minutes and fourteen seconds each year, the Council of Trent recognized that this growing deviation affected the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church. Religious feast days no longer conformed to the guidelines established by the Council of Nicaea, For example, Easter, intended as a spring observance, would ultimately occur in the summer. The seasons would also not be in line with their corresponding weather. Imitdetly, Pope Gregory organized the reform of the calendar and gathered experts to determine the corrections. The experts were said to be Luigi Lilies and German Jesuit Christopher, but the one who did the most changes was the German, for he was an astronomer and a mathematician. Papal edict proclaimed the new Gregorian Calendar in February of 1582, thus dropping ten days bringing the calendar in line with the solar system along with added leap …show more content…
William Saturno was the one who discovered paintings and calculations related to the Mayan calendar at Xultún, a Maya site in Guatemala, the place that was home to thousands of people. However, Looters then robbed the site and their trenches led to the discovery of the Maya archaeology. Venturing deeper into what appeared to be a surprisingly intact house, Saturno spotted additional murals more unspoiled than the first. Lastly, the National Geographic society provided grants for the work of William and ultimately having the National Geographic magazine announcing his discovery. All the skeptical ideas that made people fear towards the Mayan calendar were diminished once the calculations of the Mayan calendar calculate moon ages and it 's cycles. The discovery also helped prove that the Mayan Calendar does not predict that the world will end with apocalypses.
@So many calendars with controversies within them. some calendars that were made up without enough information and some said to have the right information or being corrected. After all, the moon cycles do not lie, for it is just a matter of fact of having the right calculations. The sun has also had a big impact towards these calendars. The Gregorian and Julian calendar, Mayan, and Egyptian calendar along with other ancient calendars have been created to reflect the time within cultures using the Celestial
There was two types of calendars for the aztec, one was called Xiuhpohualli and had 365 days and the other was called Tonalpohualli, this calendar had 260 days. The Xiuhpohualli represents the agricultural year or the solar year and the Tonalpohualli is the sacred calendar of the Aztec. The english translation from Tonalpohualli is day count. The Tonalpohualli was sacred to the Aztec because it acted like a divinatory tool and it divides the days and rituals between the gods. To the Aztecs it was really important and without it the world would end.
Over a thousand years ago in the Mesoamerica region the culture that we know as Maya thrived. They had an amazement and intrigued fascination over the technical mastery of their intellectual studies. The Mayan’s history is rich with remarkable human achievements, as well as stories. Some of their most recognizable masterpieces are the Mayan trade network, building Cities, the Mayan number system, and the Mayan calendar.
(OI) Another great contribution of the ancient people is the Gregorian calendar. Calendars we now use today
They created concrete roads, added 67 days to the calendar, many building concepts, aqueducts, plumbing, tools, and glass blowings. Adding 67 days to the calendar balanced out the calendar today. Made the season's line up and it also added the month July. Having many building concepts helped with buildings for them and the future people with
The Aztec calendar has images of the different Sun Gods. Also what I was reading was interesting because it talked about the strong wisdom of the Nahua race, it shows what they truly represent. Which was closely referred by it on every occasion civil or religious. The Aztec Creation myth is explained through the way the world was created and the Aztec culture believed in the myth as the legend of the Fifth Sun. The myth was told in many different forms due to the fact that is was told and passed down to generations by oral tradition which changed the way the Gods were represented depending on which tribe your family was from.
A calendar marks the seasons and avails farmers to ken when to plant and harvest their grain. Like many antediluvian societies, China predicated its calendar upon the phases of the moon but then integrated extra months. This was because a solar year is not evenly divisible by an exact number of lunar months – there are about 12.37 lunar months during a solar seasonal year – so without the extra months, the seasons would drift each year. This is called a lunisolar calendar. The Chinese calendar ergo had a thirteen-month year every two or three years.
I personally believe that the calendar section represents a huge part of the native American culture of always wanting to keep a continued and strong relationship with each
They had two parts to their “calendars” the 260-day cycle and the 365-day cycle and every 52 years they would align. The time between these 52-year intervals was celebrated since one 52 year period was considered a century (Doc B). Tying back to my previous statement about the Aztec religion, the gods also played a big role in their culture. This is shown many times including the naming of Tenochtitlan. “According to the revelation of our god when he appeared to me this night … There our name with be praised and our Aztec nation made great…
All tho this evidence only talks about the wheel calendar which is also called the tonalpohualli calendar. LIke it says this calendar was descended to include the holy days and rituals because the Aztecs thought that the gods were in charge of planning everything. Also with this calendar tonalpohualli it talks about how it divides the calendar time into equal time for each god. Also the xiuhpohualli “counting of the years' ' calendar had a big impact on the Aztecs because it was based on a solar year. This solar year helped the xiuhpohualli calendar predict when the world would end and helped plan big events like festivals.
The Mayans were just one of several civilizations in Mesoamerica that accomplished many achievements. They had one of the greatest pre-industrial architectural cultures, started a trade network, formed a number system and were one of the first to use the number zero, and created a calendar based off what they saw. The trade network was significant as it allowed the Mayan tribes to trade for necessities, such as salt and cacao, and helped spread their culture (Doc A). The remains of the strong buildings built by the Mayans proved they were one of the “greatest preindustrial cultures of the world” in their time (Doc B). The accuracy and time measurements of their calendars were better than any other, and allowed them to predict the weather and
However, it was their enormous strain many years ago that today results in buildings towering over 130 feet in height. This motivation that drove the mayans nearly 4,000 years ago also produced a variety of remarkable ideas and concepts, many of which we use today. One such example is the Mayan Calendar. The Mayans developed
This proves that the Maya peoples worked very hard to achieve this accomplishment which is what makes this

During the classical period, many things were invented that still influence our world today. Many great inventions were improved, and sometimes wiped out completely, but a few survived, Such as, the calendar, roads, and form of government. One influential innovation is the calendar (Doc.4). This was invented by Pope Gregory in the Middle Ages(Doc.4).The calendar helps us know, when to wear coats or shorts. It helps farmers know when to plant and harvest.
