Career planning is the logical process by which one chooses career goals and the path to these goals. From the organization’s viewpoint it means helping the employees to plan their career in terms of their capacities within the framework of organization’s needs. It is a continuous process due to an ever changing dynamic environment. It is not an end in itself but a means of managing people to obtain results. Most people involved in planning their career have the wrong notion of the entire process. They neglect to see it like it really is and on account of that, they find themselves at a disadvantage when compared to the other aspiring candidates. With so many people applying for just about every available job these days, it is critical that we take advantage of every opportunity to make ourselves look and sound better than everyone else. Career Planning will help us do that and more! Hotel management in itself has a wide classification. There are 4 core departments in a hotel, namely, Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Service and Food Production operations. Front Office is truly the nerve center of a hotel or Face of a hotel. The role played by Front Office in promoting good guest relation is self-evident and cannot be over emphasized. It is a department that handles all guest feedbacks and is co related and coordinates with all other departments to make the guests stay memorable.
