Expensive jewelry, huge palaces, private jets, enchanting red carpets, black limousines, high class parties: Welcome to the world of glitz and glamour enjoyed by celebrities that mesmerizes us all. Although, we idolize their lifestyle, we are not aware of their day-to-day struggles. Imagine someone watching your every move while you are shopping at a mall, relaxing at a beach or spending quality time with your family; this is exactly the life of a celebrity. The society establishes unrealistic expectations from these celebrities, intrudes into their personal lives. Moreover, we consider them as our role models, even though their job is to entertain us, not be responsible for our own actions.

They are constantly pressurized by the society to act in a certain way. Majority of non-celebrities develop “Schadenfreude” towards celebrity culture. ’Schadenfreude’ is defined as the satisfaction gained from observing others misfortune. Also, seeking pleasure from others mistakes gives us a high horse to mount. Instead of focusing on important global issues, we are stuck up in a society where judging celebrities has become one of our topmost priority. Instead of scrutinizing them in public, why don’t we entitle them their right to freedom of choice in order to live their life on their own terms? Even they are human beings like the rest of us.
