What Is The Theme Of Censorship In Fahrenheit 451

In Fahrenheit 451, censorship plays an enormous role and is one of the

most important themes. In this novel´s world, as ironic as it sounds, firemen started

the fire instead of extinguishing it. The people of this society do not think independently and having a social life, a conversation with another human being, they

had none. Even books were considered old-fashioned and people who read them,

they were risking their lives because there was a group of people who wanted to

erase all the old ideas and made the world, their society, a futuristic place. Their

futuristic ideas were to watch an extreme amount of television and listen to the

radio which was attached to their ears. Because they didn´t read, they were afraid

They censored a bunch of things. They were some people that

they kept to their believes and preferred dying over leaving what they truly loved.

´´There must be something in books, things we can´t imagine, to make a

woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don´t stay for

nothing´´. –Guy Montag. Although the books and people have fallen victims to

censorship , some are willing to sacrifice their lives to ensure that books remain

alive. This may have made people to start thinking about how someone was

capable to die for an object. The thing that they didn´t know is that books can make

your mind travel, knowledgeable, and entertain in a better way than television

entertains them. The government sent a group of people that were in charge for

killing all the old-fashioned material, by material I mean people and objects too.

This old lady lived in the times that televisions didn´t exist so the only

entertainment she got was her books, and she loved to read. But when she grew

older, things changed, the people and the way that they think. Even though,

everything changed , she didn´t care about all the changes she just stick to what

she loves. So, this group of people had a new target and it was this old lady.
