Introduction
South Africa is a democratic country since from 1994, meaning citizen of South Africa are free in many things like education, religion, press and speech, are included in decision making and hold some degree of equality among citizens. The free democratic country like South Africa has to rely upon skills and knowledge. Knowledge and skills of the citizen is developed through education that is why SA implemented different types of educational curriculum.

1. Meaning of citizenship in South African schools.

Citizenship is a symbolic relationship between the state and the citizen. Crick (2008: 126) stated that the types of citizen who is valued by society is determined in terms of the nature of his/her relationship with the government. Constitutional democracy is also define as the system of government with limits of political authority and electorate has the power to remove poor performing government. Countries that adhere to the political system of a constitutional democracy usually have a legal framework, such as a constitution which rule over the country and tend to have stable political system.
