In order to successfully execute as an achievement-oriented leader, drawing on my expert and reward bases of power will be most beneficial. The reason some what of the people here on earth put other problems before there’s is because they want to be a guide, they understand things people are going through. To avoid personal bias, a leader should not only rely on self-assessment. I refer to Belbin’s team role questionnaire I did in the LPDCM class, feedback from the team, and assessment result from a consultant when I worked as an HR Director, to identify my strengths and weakness. Persuasion is the process of changing or reforming attitudes, beliefs, opinions, or behaviors toward a predetermined outcome through voluntary compliance (Mortensen, 2014). How ever, I beleive that the knowledge gained from the persoanl expeiriences of my peers and the instructor will be just as valuable as the set curriculum. My expectations of this course are to Learn as well as understand the basic operations of a center. As Leaders We need to understand the basics in order to properly lead. I expect to Leave with a strong knowlege base to share with my recruiters. I need the knowledge to mold and guide recruiters to success.
When working with a team I tend to be so focused on achievement that it comes at the expense of including everyone. I need to stop being so competitive as this behavior creates a self-centered approach and can lead to unethical actions. In order to achieve my goal I need to keep being willing to call out those individuals that are not adhering to the rules, while at the same time rewarding those for their appropriate behavior. As I mentioned earlier, a potential barrier to me achieving my goal of ethical leadership is my internal desire to compete. In order to overcome this potential barrier, I will use feedback from those around me on ways that I can improve.
