Creativity is an indefinable characteristic that makes every individual who they are. It drives progress in every endeavor an individual may take and poses as a vehicle of self-expression in a society where expression is commonplace. As the renowned artist Pablo Picasso once said “All children are born artists; the problem is to remain an artist as we grow up”. This saying is clearly evident when we look at the lives of infants from the moment they start to breast feed to the time they utter their first words. Children learn independently picking up on basic human attributes such as building relationships, interpreting their surroundings, and making conscious decisions. To be creative requires divergent thinking (generating many unique ideas) and then convergent thinking (combining those ideas into the best result).” In other words, creativity is the sum of the novelty and usefulness an individual has which links a person’s intellectual and physical abilities. This is because of the standardization of potentials that all world education systems followed after the industrial revolution. This means workers are bound by a set of regulations that oppresses their creativity and passion. In other words, many find it hard to succeed in those predefined fields and as a result don’t have the chance to get jobs. Others, including the vast majority, leave their natural and pure creativity and succumb to these regulations due to lack of resources. Unfortunately, in our schools and educational systems today, creativity is ignored and ambition is destroyed. By wanting to insure conformity, educators have chiseled away parts of students’ vast creativity by taking out the essentials and leaving the commode.
