videography every day of my life. As I have mentioned previously, having the ability to use a camera and create digital work proved to be extremely useful. Multimodality became the focus of my life. If I was writing a paper for English, I would be able to think of it through various modes- almost as if I were creating a movie. I mentioned earlier that I would occasionally opt out of writing a paper and complete the assignment using my digital media skills. Being able to think in a multimodal way created a more accessible world for me to navigate. I know that in my future, especially as a marketing major, creativity is a necessity. Writing an 8-page essay about Hamlet was never entirely useful to me, however, creating a short film that described …show more content…
Anything seemed possible because Luke Skywalker lived in a galaxy far, far away. I did not have the skills yet to create what I consumed, but I watched movies as if I was a third party, irrelevant character tagging along for a ride. I became infatuated with things I did not understand. It was not until I received my first camera that I felt complete. My world became infinitely larger; I was able to capture pictures and videos of everything around me. In addition to the creativity that ensued, many opportunities became available. The world, in my perspective, came through the viewfinder of a camera. I was able to become focused on being multimodal and join discourse communities. Not only did I become hopelessly attached to my camera, but it was delicately intertwined with my identity. It expanded my understanding of film and photography and lead me to realize how commonplace digital media is in the world. My digital literacy with a camera provided me all of the previously mentioned things- as well as a chance to find my passion in the world. Due to the relationship between my understanding of digital literacy and the influences of a camera in my life, I have been able to be adaptable and diligent in honing my skills. The development of these skills has, in turn, reinforced my success in other areas of my
In conclusion, not only does she effectively contribute to the conversation regarding the decline of creativity and why it happens, but through her efficient usage of ethos, logos, pathos, and kairos, Manoush Zomorodi gives a thoroughly convincing presentation. Weaving these together creates a favorable argument for why taking time to set aside electronic devices boosts creativity. Overall, Zomorodi created a compelling argument that not only convinces her intended audience, but also those who may have initially disagreed with her.
Reflective Analytical Account. The aim of the lecture was to explore the role of Compassion within SCPHN practice. Throughout the session we followed and discussed the Francis Report, the Compassion In Practice (6C’s) strategy and the 2016 nursing strategy.
In this essay, I will argue about how technology is our most important literacy sponsor for our development of literacy. As a young child, my mother always used to forced books on me. Every other day was reading day and I would have to read a book to my mother. I would always look at her and cry because I hated sitting down and opening up a book that was longer than my instruction manual for my video games.
AVID is a program not intended for everyone. This program exposes you to a variety of skills and mastery for adolescents desiring to attend college. Avid focuses around organization, teamwork, and for you to critically think. These skills are new to many and are provenly beneficial, however these skills do not favor those that have already had these skills and are show casing their full potential. Therefore, Avid is not for me since it interferes with my academic courses, mastery of avid skills and would not be beneficial for me because I have gained much of the skills and would rather interfer than assist.
My teacher explained how to complete a narrative, and procedural essay clearly. I would love to use some of her teaching methods someday. It 's an amazing feeling to be able to write about an experience that altered your life. If I teach English someday, I want my students to learn how to express themselves when they write. It would be exciting to be able to sit down and read my students papers.
“I think I’m going to write my novel over Thanksgiving break,” I said to my dad over the phone. He laughed. That was last year, and it’s just barely Halloween as I write this, and I have only one chapter left, 75,000 words, and 280 pages. Last year, I had fifteen chapters left, 20,000 words, and about 80 pages. I couldn’t blame him for laughing though; when most people think of an author, they think of people like Stephen King or J.K. Rowling, people who are middle aged and have been through a lot.
This camera stands for the fascination of photography that i had .Something about being able to catch something in that moment and being able to go back 2 years later and it still being the same interest me the most .The soccer ball means lot because with the game of soccer my whole family would come and watch . Some of my strengths as a writer are creativity, sentence variation, and vocabulary. My favorite pieces of writing was my “Hitchhiker’s Guide to Algonquin” which was one of the first writing assignments. I enjoyed it because I was allowed to think freely and use creative ideas to fix a problem. My ideas were creative such as using yarn as a navigation
The prompt for this essay is quite simple: write about how your involvement in sports, community service, leadership, academics, and other extracurricular activities have affected your overall character. However, I feel as though this essay would be better if focused on my career in lacrosse and how it’s changed my life over the past five years, helping me throughout the good and bad, the simple and the challenging. Lacrosse has been a part of my life for about five years now. I started playing when I was in fourth grade, simply because I wanted to branch out and try something new, exciting, and a little bit out of my comfort zone.
The panoramic view of life, the people one meets and how strong the experience itself makes you is something, which enriches one for
Just as Sontag emphasises in her essay, photography is useful tool that captures the memories, defenses against anxiety, and brings familiarity. In additional, personally I also believe that photos can empower the world by sharing
To begin my reflection of my of my journey as an English major here at the department I should first say that any work I completed in my freshman and sophomore year will not be included as I do not have access to them. I have chosen to use pieces that were written in my film studies course and Native American Studies. There are four pieces total that will be looked into three of the four will be pieces will be work from my two film studies courses Film Theory and Criticism and Japanese Film Directors, the remaining one piece as stated above will be from Native American Studies. Initially when signing up for the course in Film Theory and Criticism, I did not know what to expect as we all know how to watch a film, summarize it, and give an
My educational journey has been an experience I will remember. I have attended school in three different countries, Antigua, St. Thomas, and New York. A diverse educational experience has allowed me to interact with many different cultures and confront many of the different topics we discussed in class. At that time however, I was not fully aware of the implications of certain situation but after many readings I can now fully understand many of the experiences I encountered in my journey. All the information I have learned in this class however will bring all my experience together where I can make much more sense of it than I could when I was younger.
Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
