Some students in daily life in school face peer pressure with the outfit their in, or what others are in. Schools should have a less strict dress code for everyone. Most of the time dress codes targets girls, boys do not get dress coded because they do not dress “sexy” to school like some girls do. “Having my stomach/thighs/shoulders show does not compromise my intelligence or actions.” (Anonymous page 1). Many Turkish people have some sort of questions in their minds about school uniforms. Is a shirt, sweater, tie and school logo really important for their children? I believe that Turkish students should wear school uniforms instead of wearing their daily clothes because it reduces student’ stress and supports their family economically. All humans have the right to freedom of speech. Is a public school dress code requirement violating that freedom of speech if it protects student human rights? Research has shown that while many people believe school uniforms to have some negative effects on teachers, students, and their parents, uniforms have more benefit than just looking nice at school. Being required to wear school uniforms prevents violence, promotes higher motivation for academic learning, and encourages more respect for everyone in the school environment. Wearing uniforms has an impact on the student’s school years, so they should be required to be worn every day of school.
If a teacher organizes a religious activity, and a student’s personal religion isn’t involved, they are going to believe that their religion isn’t a priority, and that they aren’t a priority in the school. This could also make their parent’s angry, and when their parents are angry, they will try and challenge the school by either protests or a lawsuit, which are both distracting to the students and cost money to the school. The most important function of a school is to educate students and to help make them feel accepted, and both functions of a school can be disrupted if religious activities are allowed in public schools. It could disrupt the students’ studies, and not including a student’s religion can make them feel unaccepted. Religious activities, such as prayer, that promote the beliefs of one religion shouldn’t be sponsored, organized, or encouraged by school personnel because it is unconstitutional and violates the religious beliefs of students from different religions.
