I’m a student myself and I come to find that homework is my number 1 factor of stress because I fear that my grades will go down. We are given a lot of homework each week and we are expected to turn it on time with all of the answers being completely correct. Kids today are stressed out at the fact that it is so easy to fail school, when it comes to the tests, homework, exams. Exams are a different story, exams are so stressful to the point where people can 't even enjoy anything without worrying about the fact that if they don 't pass that they’re going to fail. Worrying about grades too much obviously causes stress and many things are caused by stress. Being able to recognize common stress symptoms can give you a jump on managing them. Stress is something we all go through and over time our stress beings to build up. Many believe that stress starts to impact one 's life by the time they start middle school or the beginning of their teenage years. The transition from elementary to middle school into high school can be very intense. Students become highly influenced by their surroundings which makes them susceptible to descended into unhealthy coping mechanisms. At this point in time their lives are shifting dramatically, they will be encountering many different people.
When there’s too much homework, it can cause depression if a student is dealing with too much homework their life balance is thrown out of proportion (Steve). One example, from ConnectUs, states most students have stressful school days. This stress can come from many things. Students have to sit in class and process what they are learning. They might have other activities such as band, choir, sports, speech, etc. The pressure to get good grades or do well is enormous.
This point is further justified in an essay by the American author, named Alfie Kohn, “How Not to Get into College: The Preoccupation and Preparation”. Alfie Kohn’s essay is concerned with the fact that grades are nothing more than a number and they do not make up your life; stressing out about your grades will lead you to missing the important aspects of life that you are blinded to. I personally feel that Kohn has started a great discussion about grades; how high school students are highly influenced and affected by grades. I believe that grades have a significant impact on students because they are getting in the way of important events and moments in their lives, and also students tend to overly stress themselves due to several reasons such as over-valuing grades.
Kids Are Narcissistic and Too Coddled In the summer of 2003, my family went on a trip to Disney. I dressed myself in a non-matching outfit and my mother told me to change before we went out. I threw a fit, accused her of calling me blind, and refused to talk to her the rest of the day. It was totally unnecessary and over-dramatic; especially, since my mom was only saving me from embarrassment.
An average student would spend hours on schoolwork a day, which can be very stressful. A high school student will use half of their day around school relation. Almost all elementary to high school students will likely to agree that homework should not be assigned. The majority of students complain about homework yet teachers don’t usually understand why. While homework gives benefits to students, unnecessary homework should not be assigned due to the fact that there are enough school hours, it consumes time, and the development of poor health is encouraged.

A lot of students disregard grades and homework because the homework gets too overwhelming and they just give up. After a eight hour long day of working at school, all of the kids get released to go back to their houses. What most kids do is they get home and they relax and do other activities that they want to do. But later that day most people have extensive amounts of homework that they have to do.
