Energy: Electricity is a unique form of energy that powers the modern world. It was the discovery of electricity that accelerated industrialization across the globe. The electrification of a country helps to increase economic activity and often marks an inflection point in the economic life of a nation. India is the third largest producer of electricity in the world after the United States and China. The total installed power capacity in India is approximately 300GW and the per capita consumption of electricity in India is around 1/5th of that in China. It shows a lot of scope for capacity addition as the consumption of electricity will grow in India as the society becomes more prosperous in coming years.
